In this Thread we can summ all kind of ideas we have for an future Open PvP Sector in the Game.
My First Idea would be 2 Sectors for Open PvP
One from Klingons, one from the Federation.
In this two Sectors it should be able to Attack Players in Space, like to attack Ships etc, like Borg in Gamma Orionis. Klingons should Cloak here but would have lower warp speed.
Also it should be able to fight for Planets/Systems with Cooldowns for retake and little bonusses that would help Factionwide or just in the two Sectors.
In the Future it would be also nice when this Systems could be claimed by Fleets and build up with Stations or other things that would cost ressources and energie that can be obtained through open pvp on the two sectors.
Also the Sectors should have an border or borderline who will change after getting system near the border, and only Border near systems could be easily attacked. Systems far behind the Borders could only be raided for Ressources, Equipp or to lessen maybe NPC help.
I want pvp sectors that let me as a Klingon do convoy or commerce raiding as well as planetary raids. There should be npc convoys that players escourt and those who wish to attack them. There should be bases and planets to fight over and control. There also needs to be some type of open to all location with objectives for both sides. This would give the secret orders and intel types a purpose.
There could be a level cap so that you will not be a lowly ltcmd and get gigged by a player way higher than you. Everquest II had this type of restriction on their open pvp servers.
I should be able to enter these zones as an independent such as a ferengi or syndicate member. I want to be a pirate etc and as a fed or klingon I want to hunt them and blow them out of space or bring them to justice.
In short there needs to be objectives genrated by cyptic as well as the players in these zones. Think pvp with npcs placed in the mix. This type of dream set up would make a pvp/pve hybrid that would give a tremendous depth of play. As a fed, klingon or non aligned profit seeker it would be a blast to play. Anything but death matches in limited arenas. That is truly dull and other than the demonstration of personal skill pointless.
since there is no ideas forum or thread and tribble is only for the tribble thing i think as some of the devs could get new ideas from this its ok to post it here
So ninja do you have any ideas for Open PVP ? would be nice when we get more.
I like all these ideas. NPC convoyes that must be protected are a GREAT idea, and will lead to more random PvP encounters. I play as a Gorn on the Klingon side and the worst part for me is the boredom. Also, as my fleet amasses resources it would be nice to have a goal to spend them on. If we could take over a planet and build our own spacestation, and then protect it from the Feds, this would create massive amounts of activities and allow us to have something else to do besides fight endless NPC feds or just join ques all day.
I would like to see planet/system takeovers and the aforementioned space stations. I think if you made the space station customizable, with different modules with different costs, sort of like City of Heroes/Villains did with secret bases, then you would have a place where fleet members could go and meet and it would also feel more real from an immersion standpoint. Also, you would have more reason to defend it if it cost you a bunch to set it all up.
i like to have collision damage added into the game, not the ramming speed, but actual damage from like running into a star base, another ship, and/or asteroid...even space trash...junk...scraps.
The warp core breach explosions from a ship should be more....in damage, and debris kinetic damage, scraps and hull...such.
1.) Also it should be able to fight for Planets/Systems with Cooldowns for retake and little bonusses that would help Factionwide or just in the two Sectors.
2.) In the Future it would be also nice when this Systems could be claimed by Fleets and build up with Stations or other things that would cost ressources and energie that can be obtained through open pvp on the two sectors.
3.) Also the Sectors should have an border or borderline who will change after getting system near the border, and only Border near systems could be easily attacked. Systems far behind the Borders could only be raided for Ressources, Equipp or to lessen maybe NPC help.
You basically said what i want above. Also able to board a ship and fight within
Please almighty devs, see this thread, listen to it(They do a good job at that)
Having open RvR maps that anyone could join that are not instanced. Once a LT or whatever joins their gear is tiered up to RA5/BG5 but do not get the extra BO slots. This way those ships and captains can participate in large scale PVP fleet engagments even in their Mirandas and starter BoP's. this would give us the ability to have battles like the Dominion wars etc... where all ships are on the field not just a certain Tier.
Also we could have fleet assault maps where one group owns a planet with factional starbases etc...The assaulting fleet would have to break thru the defending fleet to have people beam on board the stations to try and take control of them. There would have to still be fleet combat around the stations in order to allow the assaulting ground team be able to respawn if dead. If the defenders push the assault fleet out to let's say 20Km of the station any ground attacker wouldn't be able to respawn on the station thereby limiting re-enforcements.
This could be tied into the level free idea also. The entire idea is you would have to compete in both space and ground in order to accomplish a capture and hold victory. Maybe these could have windows of availability such that they weren't always attackable except during certain time windows. Allowing the Victor a chance to get whatever benefit their was from holding that planet and a chance to build up defenses for the next window.
Real neutral zones that separate each faction's space. I shouldn't be able to go enemy space freely.
The ship's computer can say something like "warning now entering the neutral zone" to warn you. The neutral zone could be consensual pvp like in PotBS where you see a symbol flash over your ship when someone challenges you but you don't have to accept if you don't want to. This allows pve people that have missions in enemy space to still do them because those missions could be moved to the neutral zone.
If they go beyond that neutral zone they are flagged for open pvp and anything goes. Being able to go anywhere like you can now is just silly.
