Does increasing your deflector field strength through modules and deflectors have any affect on feedback pulse? If so, what does it improve?

Yes it does, and it improves the magnitude of FBP. You can learn what stats affect an ability, and whether they modify magnitude or duration, by looking at the Info window tooltip of an ability. (Right-click on a candidate with FBP, then click Info. Otherwise, look at the tooltip in your Powers window.)

The magnitude of FBP is how much damage it deals in response to a beam attack. So far we have seen up to ~400% damage return (i.e., 4x the damage received from beams).

Thanks for the help. I can't seem to find where it says it is affected by the magnitude or duration. When I mouse over the tool tip By my officer it just says with the ability does. When I look at my abilities list it does say System: Deflector Field. However, it does not say whether this affects its magnitude or duration.

Try the Info window (right-click) on candidates (i.e., candidates in your Assignments tab that have not yet been commissioned, or candidates in a Bridge Officer Store).

Also, current AUX power level affects the magnitude. You can determine this for most abilities by watching the ability tooltips (either in Bridge Officer Tray, or Powers window) while you change power levels. Unfortunately, the tooltip for FBP does not state magnitude.
