Playable Pakleds?????

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Pakled

The Pakleds' own technology (and, it seems, their intellectual development) is significantly less advanced than that of many other spacefaring races. They are driven by their unwillingness to develop technological knowledge on their own, desiring to instantly gain the power that other cultures enjoy. They therefore try to acquire technology from other species, generally by theft. (TNG: "Samaritan Snare")

In 2365, a Pakled transport first encountered the USS Enterprise-D in the Rhomboid Dronegar sector 006. The ship, named the Mondor, had sent out a Mayday because their ship was broken and they wished to acquire new technology. They were offered assistance by the Enterprise, who lent the Pakleds their chief engineer, Geordi La Forge, to help fix their ship. The Pakleds kidnapped La Forge, but eventually returned him after the Enterprise demonstrated its "force" with a harmless pyrotechnic display involving the Bussard collectors. (TNG: "Samaritan Snare")

come on!!!! not these guys! There isnt any RP so to speak and your going to introduce the Galaxies Trash to play as characters?

All I can think of is the TNG episode Samaritan Snare!
Pakled to LaForge: You fix things! You make Go!
LaForge: Damn these guys are dumb!! they need to visit my PBS Show Reading Rainbow!!

I would love to see some open RP. I have come across a bit here and there but no real community to speak of. It would certainly be nice.

As for the Pakleds as a playable race there are many other races I would rather see first. These guys are kind of useless and do not even make good enemies.

I remember Corkey, I hated having to find that guy again and again. Can't we just let the Ogres eat him?

It exists, but it's mostly of the dinner party variety. Nothing too exciting.

On the plus side, you get a really good parking space in space dock and a guaranteed job with the Mail Service.

They don't look right. They are allowing them to be slim and muscular, which really goes against what we've seen on the shows. In both TNG and DS9 (they were in the background a lot on DS9) Pakleds are rotund, portly, and well...FAT. We saw plenty of them if you count background shots, and they were never even close to having a human body mass.

I wish they'd restrict Pakleds to being fat, just like Tellarites can only be so tall.

    Captains Log, Stardate 63650.2

    Captain S'ped, reporting.

I have been assigned to the U.S.S. S'hr T'bus as interim Captain, following the untimely demise of my predecessor. Apparently, sticking one's head into the reclamation station of the mess hall replicator 'to see how it works' is hazardous to one's health.

Curiously, I have been assigned a senior Bridge crew of Pakleds. A most intriguing race, to be sure.

The senior Tactical Officer, Lt. R'tard, constantly comments that 'we are strong', which I find curious, as we are a science vessel with minimal weaponry.

The senior Science Officer, Lt. Mo Ron, appears to delight in telling everyone 'we are smart!' but has asked me on several occasions to explain the functions of his station to him. One wonders what the staff in BuPers was thinking when cutting orders for this assignment.

Finally, the Chief Engineer, Lt. Commander Dididi, appeared on the bridge this morning before we were to depart Space Dock to tell me that we had 'run out of things to make us go'.

I believe my classmate at Starfleet Academy, upon finding out his new commanding officer on the U.S.S. Archimedes was none other than the father of one of his many inebriated one-night stands, had a saying that I now find appropriate.

"This tour is going to suck."

Pakleds are not slim and muscular. Their lazy appearance accommodates their sloth-like tendencies as a race.

We look for things. Things to make us go.

Leave the Pakleds alone. They are becoming a playable Federation race. It's not like they are releasing them as a full on faction or anything. Some of us want to play them. Other can just ignore that option. Thank you.

    This.

I've had a Pakled character planned since before this game went live. That character can now become a reality thanks to the upcoming patch, and I'm happy about that.

I nearly fell off the chair laughing when I first saw "Pakled" as a new playable race... I remember joking about making them a in game race, but not in a million years did I think they would do it.... it's brilliant!

I'm going to have buy another slot just for that!.. Now If I could just make a stubby bright yellow starship... U.S.S. Shortbus :p

    Just tried one on Tribble...

    Required Traits:

    Indolent
    - Ground & Space Trait. Decreases run speed and all ability cool downs.
    - Minus 10% character movement on ground (in and out of combat, PvE & PvP).
    - 10% increased cool down time (ground & space abilities, in and out of combat, PvE & PvP).

    Innocuous
    - Ground Trait. Your seemingly harmless appearance makes you less of a threat.
    - Minus 10% Threat Generation.

    Techno Klepto
    - Space Trait. We want things. Things to make us go.
    - Plus 1% chance of obtaining uncommon and rare space equipment as loot.

Pakleds. The gully dwarves of STO.

If they really do put Pakleds in, then I DEMAND they also include Brawndo.
    Why?
    Because it has Electrolytes.
    What are electrolytes?
    They're what plants crave.
    But what do plants crave?
    Brawndo!
    Why?
    Because it's got electrolytes!
