A question and an idea!

:)I have a question about something in-game, and a suggestion for a possible mission in this game! The question is this: Has anyone ever tried, for instance, when changing how their Cruiser looks, making their Cruiser look like it was made of all three Cruiser Types, Parts-Wise? The Idea I have, and I don't know where to post it, is: What if there was a mission that allowed players to find, and retrieve, Spock from wherever that Black Hole sent him, Provided he is still alive? Any helpful feedback is, as always, appreciated!

Plenty of people use parts from all 3 ship classes within a tier. Also, you're not very likely to see a mission like that. The problem is, bot Paramount and CBS hold the rights to the newest movie. STO only has CBS permission to add things to the game. They would need a license with Paramount as well in order to add things from the new movie. Also, I doubt Paramount would give them permission to make that mission as they likely have plans to keep Spock prime in the alternate universe for the second movie.

BTW, nice name. It's always nice to see other anime fans.

IMO you won't see anything major in this game that will change the ST universe like that. If prime Spock were to return to the prime universe it would be in a movie or TV series.

Mind you, the new movie is quite openly referenced in STO. The opening cinematic with Spock's voiceover talks about the events of the new movie, and the missions in Romulan space explain more about how Nero upgraded the Narada.

And in the movie tie-in comic book series, Star Trek: Countdown...which is a prequel to the film set in the 'prime universe'... we see Data as captain of the Enterprise-E. He and his crew are wearing uniforms from STO.

So it's pretty clear that Paramount is cool with things like that.

Agreed. That is probably a bigger consideration.

It's possible we may see more content in the game that refers to the new films, but it's unlikely there'll be major...universe-changing stuff that affects the new film continuity in STO.

The Elder Spock says clearly at the end of the new movie that he plans to help with the resettlement of the remaining Vulcan population after the destruction of their home planet.

Pocket Books also reportedly have a series of novels coming out in the near future adressing issues left open after the new movie including people wanting to get their hands on Elder Spock and his knowledge of possible future events.

So there's a lot of rich stuff that we can look forward to hopefully seeing n the next Trek film set to be released in 2012.

Actually, a dev said that they don't have licensing with Paramount. He gave it as a reason why we aren't likely to see the uniforms from the new movie if I remember correctly. It's too bad really.

Fair enough. That's reasonable. And I'd imagine we won't see the JJprize in this game too.

But clearly they can at least refer to the events of the film franchise, even if they can't use actual character designs, ships, locations, etc. from it.
