Well you nettest looks acceptable as far as the ports tested. You don't need to forward ports just be sure 7000-7500 is not blocked.

What is you connection setup to your cable . (ie wireless to the cable mode,) ando can you post your dxdaig. and what nic you are using on the PC.(with driver versions)

Check to see if you have the Nvidia application firewall
Uninstall Nvidia Application Firewall - This is a known issue initializing OLE/COM before STO can run. It is installed with Nvidia chipset drivers, not graphics card drivers. Look for Forceware network access manager as an installed program and uninstall it.

Upgrade your network adapter driver, it is from 2008.

Run dxdiag from Start - Run or from a command prompt. After it has finished running click on Save All Information at the bottom of the screen next to Exit.

Save the text file to your desktop and then open it up, copy the following four sections and paste to the forum.

Ah, so you are using the laptop as a middle man between your desktop and your internet access? I'd get rid of that setup.

Your laptop wireless driver is out of date also

Been meaning to for a while, but it seems most of the wireless adapters (USB style) seem to give shotty connection. Any recommendation as to brand? Netgear? Linksys?

I did not find the nvidia firewall anywhere on my PC.

    Also here is my DxDiag

Make sure you get the desktop and laptop network drivers updated to start, use the links from above I posted.

Looks like your video card and audio could use current drivers also, they shouldn't cause you disconnects but could cause other game related issues.

As far as the wireless adapter, make sure it supports WPA2 and Windows 7 drivers as a minimum. Are you wanting to buy from some place like Newegg over the internet or from a local Frys/Microcenter/BestBuy?

Go with a name brand PCI wireless adapter that has WPA2 and Windows 7 support. I have a Netgear WPN311 in my wife's Windows 7 machine, but haven't played much STO on it to give long term quality of play reporting.

I have the same problem, I think it is not a problem of your hardware. I was disconnected every 5 minutes - I never had these problems before, except in open beta. I hate these disconnection issues...

I have been having a similar disconnect issue ever since I started playing today .... not sure why. Initially it happened randomly. Later it started happening more frequently. Now it happens almost every few minutes. I've checked to make sure my system's updated ... including my video drivers .... not sure what is causing this problem ... but I am gonna give the game a break till it's fixed . Can't play much anyway ...:(

I get a million disconnects too, I have latest everything. I'm happy to adjust any parameter suggested, but it didn't used to happen, now it happens constantly. Nothing unusual about my network setup and as I say, "It Used To Work"(TM).

I highly recommend you have someone on the IRC channel go to the same instance you are having problems with. You don't want this to be someone that has disconnection issues themselves, btw ;)
