Those messages mean you havea connection problem on your system or ISP that is blocking the conenction to cryptics servers. Disable/uninstall all firewall AV software, and make srue your router is not blocking ports 7000 through 7500.

OK disabling AV and Firewall, but how do I check to see if Router is blocking ports 7000 - 7500?
I found a web page that told me how to actvate those ports 7000 through 7500, that apparently is not the problem, as I have checked the nettest thing, and I still cannot log into the game.
I keep getting Unable to Authenticate, or Server not responding,
I really hate not being able to play something I have to pay for to play.
I would suggest contacting your ISP and check if anything is being restricted. Also, make sure you run the launcher and gameclient with full admin rights.
Just for info purposes and the fact I am so flipping annoyed, it is now 4:00am EST, I have not been able to log into the game at all, either
Unable to Authenticate or
Game Server not Responding
I am so angry I played a week without insident now I cannot even play for ten minutes. what is the problem!!!!!
Close all other programs that connect to the internet (including any add-ons running in your task bar) and get a packet capture of the unable to authenticate problem. Start the capture right before you start STO through the error you get, then stop the packet capture.

You sound like a Dev/GM. If you are one, then that is something that they would say. Why are you always quick to defend something that is not the fault of most of us?
Escuse me.... this is not a flame post please I am trying to get my stuff working so deep breath step away from keyboard.
OK here is everything I tried
Disabled Firewall & AV, Did something with disabling something on the wireless modem, and the wireless is now caput, so I am plugged into my router, had some success online tonight, a whole hour of only being botted once for game server not responding
I downloaded the nettest, posted the results ( this was before I was able to play.)
I am leary about downloading more and more programs to my already battered system, since this is an experiment to see whats wrong and not a cure I am really hesistant, since the last posting I read about a similar problem sent me to a sight I would have had to pay for the itme for it to work.
I was palnning on dumping all of my files and restarting everything from the gorund up, but my wife slapped me in the head and said think about how long that will take, and that might not be the problem.
I did disable all non windows items to see if that was the cause of my misfortune it was not. Since then I reenabled most, and went on an uninstall spree dumping some of the game I do not play anymore.
In the end, I have been able to log on, for roughly an hour. I am not thrilled with this as I am a vegatable in front of the computer and can spend hours on end playing a game. I will keep looking for more solutions to the unable to authenticate and server not responding problems, but not holding breath for a cure to the issue.
