Enough skill points for 2 ship types?

If I wanted to start down the path of Cruisers and then later switch to Escorts (or even better, switch back and forth depending on my current mood), are there enough skill points to go around? Just curious if anyone else is doing the same thing and what I'd be sacrificing to do so.

Thanks in advance!

It could probably be done. You'll take a hit to ground skills, weapons, engineering and/or operations skills but you could do it. Heck just for fun I did this build just to show all ship types. This is just messing around so no harsh criticing here, I'd never run all ship types myself.

Since you're thinking of only doing two ships though I think it would be easier. Maybe something like this:

Again just quickly put together builds but it's possible if you're willing to take the hit to one or two of the trees you could specialize in if you only picked one ship type.

It's certainly possible, especially if you spend your skill points wisely.

You may find the Skills: The Numbers link in my sig helpful in that regard.

Use skill points on weapons that are equipable on both types. That will make it a lot easier.

My Klingon is skilled out to fly x3 ships. No points in ground at all though except for the Science and Engineering teams at tier 1.

Whats more I have 6,000 points I have not even used yet. I held off buying 12 Admiral Skills till I decide what to do later.

I do the same thing. There should be enough skill points.

HOWEVER. It is difficult to switch from ship to ship constantly as You have to swich you BO's around along with your weapons/shields/exct if you dont just buy extra.

At least the game remembers the hotbar layouts and BO assignments as you switch back and forth.

So once you get everything set up including extra BOs as needed, it's pretty easy to bounce back and forth.

I have roughly equal stats in a recon science and a escort, so it is possible, just costly
