new mouse - scroll wheel doesn't zoom

I got a new mouse today - it works normally in all other applications, but on STO it the scroll wheel doesn't zoom in and out. I checked key bindings and it says mouse scroll wheel should do that. It has worked in other games. Any ideas?

Is it a fancy mouse (one with lots of buttons or wireless) or is it a very basic 2-button plug and play? If it's the former then try installing the software and drivers that came with or if you already tried that, go to the manufacturer's website to see if there are any updated drivers available for it.

PS: also has this been happening consistently every time you run the game or did it only just happen? If you've only just noticed it try restarting the game. It might just be a fluke. The one time I had a mouse zoom-in/out problem it turned out to be a random one-off bug that was fixed after restarting the game.

IT's a microsoft wireless mouse 5000. Nothing too fancy - just 2 extra buttons. I installed the software with it and the drivers are up to date and it happens every time I log in. =(

Is there a formal place I can request tech support from Cryptic?

Hmm, looking at that thread it indeed looks to be a more widespread issue and probably one caused by an incompatibility between the game and certain mouse hardware/software.

Your best bet is to file a bug report ingame (click the ? question mark next to your minimap and select Report Bug) and file it under Technical Issues.

Since Cryptic won't respond to you about bug reports I also suggest contacting tech support via the form found here: http://www.startrekonline.com/support/tech/contact
They might already be aware of this issue and able to provide you with a fix or workaround.

I use the same one. Download the latest intellipoint drivers. It works fine then.

Thank you but it says I have the latest drivers for my mouse in device manager.

The scroll works....sort of.... if I scroll normally it does nothing but if I put some pressure on it it will unreliably scroll. It's very annoying though.

Are there seperate drivers for intellipoint?
