What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

At wits end.

I've tried everything I can possibly think of to get my game started again. Heres the issue as I posted on a ticket to Tech Services:
After clicking on "Engage" in the launcher, when the screen changes to full screen and there is a loading bar as well as the Trek symbol, it loads up about 10% and the client crashes. the Cryptic Error box comes up where I can put the details in it and sends the crash dump. When I relaunch the launcher it verifies all files and no issues come up, but it fails again.

I've tried updating graphics card drivers, wireless USB drivers, windows 7 etc. Ive allowed both the game and client through my firewall, ive run as administrator and via Xp compatability mode.

I've been playing since open beta and never had this issue before monday (1st March 2010), but I did have some hardware stability issues that I have since rectified.

I sent this to them on Thursday last week after not being able to get in-game since that Monday, the day later I get a response to put up my dxdiag
Edit:

Thanks for you fast response, here is a link to my dxdiag: http://pastebin.com/rzv0KbVb as I was unsure of how else to add it to this message.

So far I have yet to receive a response, and seeing as I haven't been able to play the game I am paying for, it's kinda getting on my nerves.

As stated in the ticket, I've tried updating all my drivers. I use windows 7 and yes its in the public users folders as suggested, yes I am running both the launcher and game client with "run as admin". I deleted all the .dll's out of the "live" folder and all the .hoggs out of the piggs folder as some suggested on an earlier thread. And after 10gb and 3 days of redownloading it all, still have the same problem. Also have done nettests that have also been suggested.

So yeah, I'm at wits end, the game was running ok (apart from my own pc's instability which I have fixed) until then, and now Its almost been two weeks of not being able to play and not even a response back from Cryptic to say that they are working on it.

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Check a few drivers like your Realtek and HD audio, they appear to be older. Windows 7 64bit and this game like newer drivers than the default Winodws 7 install versions from what I've seen helping others, especially the network adapter.

Looks like Gigabyte has the current Intel chipset inf update up there, but the Realtek network adapter driver is newer on the Realtek website. Make sure to install the Intel INF update the HD audio update from Gigabyte and the network adapter latest driver from Realtek.

coderanger: On the latest CrypticError: Oops! box that came up, my Error Ticket ID is: 9467884. No other codes have come up.

Thank you for your responses so far :)

I don't have access to the Cryptic ticket or information your client is sending to them. Are there any matching date and GMT time stamp lines in your STO log files that match the error? If there are please copy and paste all of them from the matching date to this thread.
Review STO log files in the game install directory - These include errors.log, CRASH.log, pcl.log, patchxfer.log, force_verify.log, and shutdown.log. These files are located in the Cryptic Studios directory of your install location. The latest entries will be at the bottom of the files with a date and time stamp (GMT).

Definitely a hogg corruption crash. If doing a full re-download didn't fix it I would check the HDD for errors.

coderanger: No it didn't fix it when I reinstalled them, and I have run both the windows checkdisk and Seagate's own "Seatools for windows" HDD checker and all have come up ok...

Can anyone suggest a program that will detect the disk errors?

Have you tried running the game in safe mode? If not go to the options on the launcher. Some times this can help. Other than that I have no idea.

Cloning a hdd to another one will just keep the problem. You need to do a full reinstall if the issue keeps arising.

    Quick definition of "full install":

Uninstall the game through Control Panel / Add Remove Programs (Programs and Features under win 7)

Check that all files belonging to the game are indeed gone. This includes any folders. Reboot. If you feel comfortable with a program like CCleaner (registry / temp file cleaner) give it a run.

Redownload the client files. If you are installing from a DVD set check the disks for damage. A smudge or scratch "could" cause an issue.

Shutdown your antivirus software. Unplug the network cable if you feel uncomfy, but AV stuff can really mess with some installers.

Run the install. When finished a pass with Defrag might be worth doing.

Turn on your AV stuff, reconnect the network cable, reboot and run the launcher to patch up the game.

    Did I say "quick"?

Yup full install did the trick! As I only have limited downloads per month I didnt want to redownload everything again (I bought digital download), but I bite the bullet and did it anyway.

    Thanks for everyone help~
