I am sure there are those out there who have completed this. I however since March 4th have been trying to complete the mission and have every single time had everyone drop the team or 1 person give up for some reason or another.
Tonight I started trying around 7:00 pm. I went thru several groups of people who jumped at some point. Finally I had a group of people who worked at the mission. We kept 2 people in the middle and three to lower shields. We even alternated the people who were jumping to drop the shields. This team was without ANY QUESTION the most level headed and well rounded group of players I have ever seen.
Finally we decided to try all 5 people going to the shields. We got very close each and every time. We were not able to drop the shields. About 50% of the time the shields would drop and then immediately respawn. In addition to them respawning we would have all new borg it was literally impossible to complete this mission.
I know without any question I am not perfect nor the best MMO player. However I gotta tell you this mission. I am unemployed and I aside from searching jobs have nothing else to do but play STO. I can tell you without question after 11 days I should have hit ONE GROUP that could complete the dumb mission. There should be a penalty for people who join the group and then drop like they are banned from the mission for 12 hours. This is simply something that needds to be revisited and NOW LET THE FLAMES BEGIN.
Ok i havent done it since they fixed "uploading the virus" but cant you just drop all the shields (without uploading the virus) then when all are down send 1 person to each upload point and upload all at the same time.
But as I say last time I done it you didnt even need to upload the virus

That could possibly work going on the assumption the shield does not go right back up when you drop it and because you only have 4 minutes 2 people have already jumped over to the next shield and then back track. The spawn in here is brutal for 5 people. I guarantee the most hard core player even 5 of them without perfect timing and perfect everything the odds of completeing this mission are 50 to 65 percent at best.
I have done with very good friends and we can clear it at one go heres how~
You will need 5 people , (try to get - 2 Sci, 1 eng, 2 tact or 2 sci, 2 eng, 1 tact) or 1 pro sci guy ;p
3 jumper -> each of the jumper will take one borg~ and will use knock back skill etc to push the borg down to the plasma thing~, each take one console and always take back the same positon of the console at the other side~ one of the jumper will do a count down so all 3 can press the console at about the same time to lower the shield, the last guy will upload the virus while the 1st and 2nd guy will run to the next shield as soon as the shield is down...
2 stay at mid, this 2 guy will need to heal themself and help clear the path way for the jumper, lets say jumper at side 1, the mid guys will need to clear the path at side 2, they can be done from the mid or if possible they will too jump over to the side 2 and push the borg down to plasma (this prove very usefull VS shoot them -.-)
once the last shield is down with uploaded virus, all will gather at the last shield and one of the Tact guy will need to pull the Boss and kill it from there. at this part both sci, eng etc will need to buff up and heal~ and shoot only if everyone hp is ok~

with 5 hardcore ppl? well the odds is 99 percent ;p
Dropping the shields only involves having a core team of 3 to drop the shields and upload the virus, and an advanced vangaurd of 2 to clear off the next platforms. Clearing platforms can be easily done by melee then if they're still on either sniper/high density or any other type of repel/knockback weapon you'd rather use.
Don't stay on the middle platform, and each drone will respawn immediately after death once initially.
Killing Simmons is just a matter of surviving the aoe attack, for engineers keep spamming reroute power to shields, for science vascular regen or some hyposprays, for tactical not much you can do cept keep ressing everyone else and shoot at Simmons, course spam escort team whenever you can.
Though back before you actually had to upload the virus, the thing was doable with 4 people, and without any science officers for that matter.
Players should have Sniper Rifles on hand. Knock down attack's and striking the borg so they are forced into the water is the best quick tatic to taking them down.
Science Officers are nice to have for healing.
Idea is to go from corner to corner and take down the shield's... of course there is another exploit due to the developers camera mechanic's but I won't get into that. They'd just fix it .
At each station you need 3 people to take down the shield's then upload the virus with just one person.
Your most experienced jumper should lead you from point to point.
2 people should be in the center fighting off the borg. Helping you advance with out getting knock down shot in the air.
If your team member by chance falls into the water or goo or whatever it is revive him quickly or expect to make a repeat visit to that station you just left.
The faster you move the sooner you'll have the generator to shoot.
After you've blown it away the Queen will come and play......
My Question is why is her name Rebecca Simmons ?....
We tried the tactics mentioned above and it did not work tonight. Every single time we got a shield down it would immediately go back up, often locking the player uploading the virus inside the shield. /report bug did not help.
Any other suggestions?
DOes anyone actually know what the timer is? How many minutes?
I was with a team tonight and we went through it about 6 times.
The Last two times we got to the Queen, but neither time were we able to kill her.
I was in the center (I am a TAC) doing my job with an Engineer while the jumpers did their job. Not sure exactly what they were doing, but they got the hang of it after a few tries whatever it was. Three times one of them messed up and died and we had to restart.
The Queen is a Beatch. We tried twice to kill her and then the party gave up. It was a long hall.
I would also know why she is called Rebecca Simmons. My best guess is its a name of one of the Developers Supervisors. :DI
Something is wrong with this mission, at least tonight.
No matter what we tried, 1 side generator would always, ALWAYS, get its shields back up about 2-3 seconds after we press the 3 buttons to take it down.
Tried it multiple ways:
Don't upload the virus
Different people upload the virus
Kill 50 ferengi and sacrifice them to the Metrons while uploading the virus
It is certainly unforgiving. Our fleet went at it and we couldnt get the last generator on time. Some of our fleet really werent keen on the jumping aspect and even those of us who were pretty good at it made the odd mistake.
I think my concern is the respawn. We had several occasions where we cleared a platform and it respawned fullly, twice, before we even pressed the buttons. some borg respawned before the body of the previous one had gone.
It would have been fine if we could just jump to a platform and clear it, but some plaforms respawned so fast that clearing it in the first place took ages, which makes no sense.

Well finished it again yesterday, it depends on the team, speed and coordination, finaly joy
Having beat this mission eight times now my feelings are somewhat mixed, at first i thought it was a zerg feast and that certianley is not the case from fact or fiction to the end room with queen is a lot of fun u have to take down the nodes and know where they are but its fun and can be done pretty quick if people know what they are doing. To me one reason the people hate this mission or find it to hard is because they are not accustomed to anything like this mission in the game prior. Once people learn the basic mechanics of this mission it opens the doors to numerous possibility for future missions. Everything prior to the queen room imo is absolutely great and to those that complain about that section learn how to play and get better gear. Now the end room this a room i opinion keeps changing.........At first i thought the jumping was stupid now that im good at it dont mind it so much, same with the new timer at first though it should be done away with it but now getting use to it. However i think the last room is still a little to frustrating i want it to be hard honestly for the future of the game this mission is a great learning curve albeit a step one, but no make it a little more friendly to the pug or the groups with a guy that just doesnt cut i think the timer should be extended a hair not much just a hair. O and fix the queen ive seen just about every possiabilty beat her a group of 5 everyone dies a someone solos her, she gets stuck in a wall, acid. Probably should be a little more predictable and a little less damage.
Anyways long rant but i like the hard factor and i think once people get use to it cryptic can really start churning out so good fun missions.

I think they are supposed to do that, if you stand in the cornor of platofrm by the walls and the other 2 people that are supposed to be with you are doing what they are supposed to you can smack borg off the platform just as quick as they spawn. and again HDRs are your friend, they throw borg very far and they can hit multiple targets if you can line them up.
I rarely have trouble getting past the shield gens and i run with randoms, maybe its just the luck of the groups im getting. It might take a while, it might take 2 or 3 trys to get everyone up to speed but there is nothing wrong with the encounter in my opinion.
I like cryptic's approach, it genuinely requires coordination and skill in the design of this "Raid" gear is hardly important in their approach.
jumping isnt the problem. Lag and bad controls are the main issue along with the worst camera to do a platform jumping game with.
Plus whats point of having wonderfull shields that can only take 1 hit. And there isnt enougth players unless your good old usa time
why does cryptic think respawning and terrible jumping makes a good level
especially with their not so good servers.
fleet actions and raid episodes where what i was looking forward to the most and cryptic turned them into a respawing tedious bore
thanks cryptic
for a game that taught you ZERO about jumping from point to point, or requires ZERO other jumping effort in game, it suddenly throws you into a mission that requires perfectly timed jumps (without lag, graphical and web).
for a game that taught you ZERO teamwork, or ZERO timing of button mashing, it suddenly throws you into a mission that requires perfect timing and coordination.
I could go on, but the point is, the game does not offer much in the way for training on how to accomplish the things the mission wants you to do. I have no problems hitting my button, or jumping from place to place, but these rudimentary skills seem so far out of grasp for teams to accomplish. I am mind-boggled at it, really.
I have had all of my attempts at doing this 'raid' thwarted as the group disbands based on people not listening, running amok, and not being able to have hand/eye coordination enough to make it through.
As such, I am stuck and will not progress through the end-game. All I think, is that if you are going to throw a new mechanic into the game, or at least require an existing one that is barely used, it would be very helpful to prepare people for it.
I will stop before I move on to the respawn comments, and repetitious manner in which you kill umpteen million chain-holding enemies on the way to the end-goal. It really isn't fun, to me, and it really feels like a chore, not entertainment.
