So I have two Admirals (Engineering / Science) with exactly the same items in each ship, flying the exact same ship (Reconnaissance Science Vessel) The Shield I'm currently using is the 2nd Covariant Shield Array available from K7, through daily PVP.

However for my Engineering Admirals Shields are: 8491 Cap (131 Regen)

Whilst my Science Admiral Shields are: 11038 Cap (170 Regen)

I thought Shield stats changed due to what ship you're in. Science Vessels are supposed to have the most advanced Shields, yet I have a clear difference both Shields Cap and Regen. Is it simply that I'm an Engineering Admiral flying in a Science Vessel, therefore not getting the Advanced Shielding? I don't think it has anything to do skills points spent. As being an Engineer, I've heavily invested in Shields. Hope to hear your thoughts...

Looks like you have skills on the science captain that improve shields. Or it could be that the science captain base skills help to improve the numbers.

On further looking the Shields seem to be the same. Whilst it Shows 8491 Cap (131 Regen) when hovering over the Shield, the Defence Tab on the ship Status show Shields Cap at 11038. Weird

It's the same way with weapons. If you are looking at them in your inv or on your ship, it seems to be the base attribute of the equipment, once you hover on the hot bar, that adds the skills and or consoles and any other attributes that will add to the item.
WOW 11k shields!?!?! No wonder the science ships are hard to crack open, I think the highest shield on the Klingon side is somewhere between 6-8k.....

The stats are also shown with the mods based on what ship you purchased last, not which one is actually active on that toon. It's a known bug. Basically, if you have two toons that use a Recon Sci ship, but one of them has since bought a cruiser and not used it, the cruiser's stat mods will show for that toon.

Could be a dispaly bug too. The numbers that show are based on the last ship you purchased, not the ship you're actaully flying.

e.g. if both your characters bought the recon science, then your engineer bought an escort after that (but your science didn't)... When both of them are in their recon science ships, your engineer would actually be displaying the shield values as if you were still in your escort regardless of the fact that you're not actually flying that ship.

I hear it's just a display bug, but I haven't personally confirmed either way. Most people notice the bug because they buy a runabout and suddenly see their main ships shileds drop by 50%.

Power setting also affect your equipment stats. If you put 100 (or more) power in defense then your shield stats improve.

your shields dont have any extra modifiers on the end? Like [CAP] or [REGEN] or something?

If not, then it's probably the ship types themselves, different ships have different stats, your science ship may have extra power, or it may have a shield boost, i dont know, never played as em.

Don't Science officers when flying a science ship get an inherant 10% boost to shields then throw in skills ie shield mait, for regen... At least it has been since cb... Although... I think there is a hidden modifer there.. sure as an Eng it says 8**** shields.. but how much punshiment will it take to take down 1 point changes with the different classes but Cryptic nuked that duscussion long ago with fourm wipes..

I.e. Science Officer char 1 shield point might take 100 damage with 10 going to hull and such..
.. Engineering Officer char 1 shield point might take 80 damage with 20 to hull
    and so on..
    Cryptic wont answer this question..

The reason i asked it in the first place was back in CB 1 shot could bring a shield down on a Escourt/Raptor class ship... even though they have a -10% to shields why were they so much less effective.. but i only had 2500 less shield points then the science equivliant..

So is a shield point a Static stat or dose it also have hidden modifers or coeffients.
its like saying hey i have only less than 2500 shields than you but you can take out my shields 50%-100%?? faster.. I still dono what gives.. but they seemed to buffed the shields a bit and nerfed the every 1sec alpha stike admril skills on a Lt. grade bird of prey.. so be glad they fixed that..
