A few people have already expressed interest in a multi team multi faction 5 on 5 premade t5 tournament to be held at some point this weekend. Im trying to utilize this forum
http://forum.battleclinic.com/index.php/board,302.0/PVP-Only.html
for organizational purposes.
Heres what I'm proposing.
We all want a fair play honorable combat. We will have two teams enter a private match and "end the game" When one side is wiped out. No respawns. Every player will not be permitted to respawn. A two out of 3 scenario withing one game is possible, or allowing for reconfigs and re entering. Teams will "begin the fight" uncloaked at a range of 15-20km (perhaps greater) full stop. With no active powers. When all players on both sides are ready the fight begins and players can freely cloak/navigate the map/ engage officer powers. Once a side is wiped out, the winner and loser will submit a screenshot to a third parry, the results can be posted on a forum, here or at bc.
So for this construct we need teams willing to compete to be on at the same time. We dont need eveyone on at the same time for the tournament. It can "run" over a few days. While the teams can be given a chance to show over an extended time slot, to allow for maximum ease of scheduling. Alot of points, in summation, for critique, advice, recomendations please!
1. Fair game
A. No respawns
i. one death per player per match
ii eliminate many issues includin spawn camping
B. Approach at 15-20k visibile
i. no superior "extended duration" of setup window for klingon
ii. teams all full and visible and announced "rdy"
iii. no pre officer power/ability use before all sides rdy
iv. a screenshot of EVERY player saying "in" in zone will suffice
v. team leaders announce rdy
2. Arrangement
A. Teams can post here if they might be on for a match this weekend at some point with a 5 man t5 team.
http://forum.battleclinic.com/index.php/board,302.0/PVP-Only.html
B. Teams will be matched then given a large window for completion
i. format will be best of 3
ii. matches will occur in agreed map first round, then winners choice
iii. all matches between "fleets" do not have to be containig same players/ ship types/ setups
3. Records
A. Witnesses
1. Both teams must submit screenshots when battle goes "final" one side wiped
2. Volunteer witnesses can coordinate to post said screensots if teams allow it (both)
B. A standard multi tier ladder will be employed.
1. should focus on "round one".
2. There could ofc be a losers bracket/ opening for new teams altogether in "round 2"
So gentlemen, ladies, borg, ferengi, klingon. please peruse this BIG idea to let me know what i should aim to set up for. Nothing is set in stone, we may just have a slug fest in borg zone, or play it out on a cnh map, you tell ME what you want to see, from a tournament organized by players for players, to showcase high skill high game pvp. <S>
Comments
I would plan it out so you have about 2-3 weeks of signups then the main event.
My group is very interested but if it's FvK the biggest concern would be a limit on Subnuc and BoP VM + Jam spamming.
All the other rules look great.
So to everyone who thinks they win "because I'm so good and they need to L2P" take a little history lesson. See how the changes in the game escalate one build/play style to supremacy, how general changes alternate the favor between Fed and Klink. And how some teams, had quite humble beginnings. We can only hope when they rant and rave about the next patch being not to their liking and their appraoaching departure from the game they dont let the door hit them on the way out.
So lesson: Dont be claiming how hard you own. And then try and forget about a time when refused to even FIELD A TEAM to a tournament because of demanding a fair fight. So really everyone needs to realize this game is still in development and expect consistent change.
So back two months ago when all the skilled pvpers were klingon and OrganizedPVP chat chanel was thriving, holding multiple private games a day, friendlier attitudes of gamesmanship and collective aims to strive towards better pvp abounded. We actually worked with players from other fleets and helped people understand the game. Instead of saying "you suck go play wow". We waited for teams to be ready and allowed time to strategize.
Now its talk trash mid match, ball up and never give em a break/ chance to organize/ warning. "premade" queuing in pug games is like the worst thing you can do. Some people just want to win, they dont care if they beat up a TRIBBLE. Personally I always seek out the hard road for the experience and honor of a battle's victory hard fought well earned. I revel in dying to DOB, i dont like being insulted. Thats when its time to remind some people of their humbler beginings, that they never played a Star Trek Space Combat game before STO, that they will lose/be dethroned in time, and that winning in cracked planetoid in an instance with respawns and no death penalty is far from conquering the galaxy.
rant off

either way ide like to present the greatness that you are

I love how you die to a person without them using shields.
BTW 5 sci officers with will BOP builds and 5 SNB were the I WIN button back in the day and good klingon players like Kant knew how to do it. Sorry that your amazing skills couldn't match it, currently? you have NEVER beat us, and you even lose to science vessels specced for support in 1v1 situations.
it's OK bud I guess your bitterness comes from last night when you asked me what I thought about different options you should try after you said I understood the game better than anyone else you know, and I answered "l2P"
enjoy that bitterness methimax
BTW we would be more than happy to do a tourney....wait there is one coming up and you have not signed up.....huh go figure.
Hmmm...interesting read. I followed your link and read every post. In essence, because you ran a tournament two months ago and no one showed up they all lacked the "balls to play" and you were some form of champion within your own mind? If you followed that logic, Fleet 187 would be the undisputed PvP champions right now as just about no one is joining their tournament either.
Funny how every significant organized PvP fleet of note has issues with the new gameplay mechanics proposed on Tribble. Even you...after 1v1 testing against DOB members...and being made famous in those very same videos by being unable to kill a lone science vessel, getting rammed while cloaked, etc claim to not approve of them. So are you now stating anyone who does not like these new changes needs to leave? That would be the last 5,000 PvP subscribers Cryptic has if you paid any attention to the Tribble Test Server forums...
So lesson: Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Your methamphetamine-induced vitriol above only proves to demonstrate the kind of person you are. After your remaining fleetmates abandoned you, you felt your existence slipping into a nightly routine of beating up on Federation PUG's with a semi-organized group of Klingons and then getting rolled by DOB, Section 31, 182nd, etc .
So we invite you into our Ventrilo channel to try and speak to you about tactics, fleet organization, and encourage you to rally Klingon PvP'ers into organized groups. We provided you with dozens of referrals from players who apply to DOB to join your Klingon fleet instead. We provided and hosted for you a free Ventrilo channel so that you can offer Klingon players a venue to improve their gameplay. We host and manage the in-game PremadePVP channel (you know the one in your signature line) to help organize the PvP community. And this is how you repay us? With a narcotics-spawned rant? I understand this post is a form of back-handed attempt at insulting a fleet's membership as being elitist and uncouth but by the very act of posting it you demonstrate your lack of class and true character, my friend.
And we don't work with players of other fleets? What would you consider all the help we have given you and your Klingon friends? Zorena? Blackjack? Edgecase? All the Klingon players we agree to fight in a Premade match night after night as well as offering tips, advice, and strategy suggestions. I know I for one regularly get private messages in-game for loadout specifics or strategy questions and I take my time to answer them all. Our fleet is on the Tribble server daily helping to test and offer feedback from the high-end organized PvP community to Cryptic.
I personally have never had a post-game zone chat I didn't start with a "GG" or "GJ" which is met with either a nice reply, silence, or insults. The conversations progresses accordingly from there. Two months ago, PvP had less of the role players, PvE and forum board warriors, and generally was occupied by players who had PvP'ed in other games extensively. That's why it was a better game. When all these Captain Kirk PvE-types appeared and began to lose horribly to Premades the forum QQ'ing began and we have seen the "nerf bat" steadily applied to assuage their complaints...to the detriment of the game.
Did I really just read a Klingon player saying Federation players don't give them any warning? From a race that only attacks hidden out of cloak? You can't be serious? Did your connect lace the meth with bug spray this time?
As for Premade players playing PUG's there is no other alternative. We post every night in both the OrganizedPVP and PreamdePVP channels for 5v5 fights and rarely get them. There's the occasional Fed or Klingon fleet that takes the challenge. Rarer still is the fleet that comes and asks one of our members for a Premade vs Premade match. So fighting PUGS is all there is. And if Cryptic doesn't get their act together, soon there won't even be that.
We openly invite you to bring any players you can and personally "humble" us...;)
To quote James Brown..."Cocaine is a hell of a drug."

and no where in any of my comments did i pronounce anything about my own in game prowess, having or having not beaten DOB as a team or individually, or any horn tooting. Im just pointing out a FACT, that players who refuse to help their opponents, resorting to insulting and berating them, whilst they KNOW they hold an advantage, they are what can be considered "poor sports" of the worst kind. that is all <S>
Though I'm wondering how the changes from last night would make a difference in that video..
Anyway.. Yeah This topic I can see getting out of hand quickly..
Still waiting on Emojoe to respond to that PM I sent him about my interest in joining a klingon pvp fleet..
Tournaments are cool, and would be interesting to at least watch the Vids of one, if one got hosted and run properly. I'd say do one on tribble. Since that's where the newest changes/nerfs happen.
Once again, awesome video. Especially liked the ventrillo conversation instead of the usual music that gets played during one of those.
As stated previously, I'm sorry no one wanted to join your tournament. But because everyone in the PvP community at that time also declined are you saying only you and one other fleet were any good? If memory serves it was fleet's such as Murder Fleet (who no longer even plays this game) and Coffee Crew (leaving the game) who started extensively using the SNB/VM combo and TSS stacking as a persistent tactic. Both of those fleets are/were excellent. By your logic they "have no balls" because they weren't in your tournament either? Very self-centric view of things.
There is no pure deathmatch or open PvP so you pplay the game you're given. This game only has 5v5 Cracked Planetoid as a straight PvP arena. Solar wind crashes lower-end PC's and the Capture and Hold maps allow random PUG's to enter. So until Cryptic provides you with another venue to play against other players, 5v5 PvP is where you'll have to earn your bragging rights...and as of now you have none.
Absolutely. Since all those claims would be grossly incorrect and easily refuted through videographic evidence I don't see how any sane person could postulate those arguments...;)
I agree. And since we have demonstrated time and again our willingness to help others...even you...despite the oftentimes negative community feedbacl towards DOB, Section 31, 182nd, and any other good organized fleet, we don't fall in that category. I'm sorry good PvP fleets in general and Klingon players in particular are leaving the game in droves.
STO had a great opportunity to use an established IP to make an excellent game. Instead they have steadily employed the nerf bat system to turn what could have been an aggressive and unique space action-shooter MMO with extensive high-end PvP into a glorified Hello Kitty MMO and already begun splitting resources into creating yet another MMO. They are only saved by the fact there really isn't any other game for players to use as a viable option. Had Star Wars: TOR been out at the end of this year, everyone would be on that Beta and STO would be another anecdote in the annals of MMO history.
As for this wild swing into bipolar mood shifting, as a mental health clinician I strongly suggest you seek professional assistance for whatever personal issues lead you to take anything that happens in a game seriously or relative to actual life experiences.
yes. before khreed told her no(among others). shes not around anymore by the way. i was so thoroughly discouraged by akumarevs comments in our pm conversation about the tourn i chose to give up on the diea altogether
Uh....her? You do know Foxy is a guy, right? Do you have any idea what you're talking about at all? Or is this just an emotional response to a conversation you had with Akumarev? To use a forum board euphemism, you seem "butt-hurt" about the fact Akumarev doesn't soft-shoe or place a PR tone on his advice to you.
You go out of your way to attempt to demean and embarrass an entire fleet because of your feelings towards a particular person's comments which may or may not be true or may or may not be viewed out of context. The same fleet who went out of their way to assist you with free Ventrilo hosting, assistance with your recruiting (as noted by me and another non-DOB poster above), and offered advice...all points that cannot be refuted.
It looks a lot more like a personal agenda and vendetta than anything else...
Dont you have any videos of all of the tell flames with DOB and X. Remember calling people TRIBBLE and homo? I recall alot of heated angry commentary from DOB and its enemies. The childish immature commentaries from klingons of "you cheat" met with retorts from DOB of every range and size and color.
So what from Ive witnessed of DOB is skilled proficient combat no doubt, but with an unfriendly edge sometimes bereft of decency and character. Granted I havent played as often as I'd like and can only speak from experience. But i can think of DOZENS of players who arent around much anymore, and remember specific incidences of unpleasantness as a result of fighting DOB. Isnt it enough to get 15-0 slaughtered? Some players wont be coming back after being insulted, berated, and ridiculed for losing when frankly they didnt have much of a chance in the first place.
And i posted this directly after Rev dared end a 20 minute "you suck emoejoe" rant with "L2P" anda log off. So yeah show me where you really honestly seek to increase the general player skilset rather than puff out your chest and proclaim your dominance.
Oh yeah tell me how spamming torp spread plasma works out as a clutch fleet strategy. and also meth/crack/coke is no good, stick to whats natural. red bull
Absolutely. You make my point for me. As you state if someone types "You Cheat" to us in Zone Chat we will respond. Looking at all our FRAPS videos you can see the chat after the game begins with a "GG" or a "GJ" yet is typically returned with either silence or "exploiters" and "hackers" and "you're dead after 1.x patch" type commentary. Another poster in another thread put it best: "DOB typically doesn't start the fights...they just finish them."
So now you're claiming we're evil and devoid of character and decency (your words) because of hearsay from players not even in the game any more? Minimax...you're reaching. And failing. You claim this is a common occurrence but I know for a fact you cannot produce a single shred of proof I have ever purposefully insulted someone who didn't antagonize a situation first. In fact, I have a rather good reputation amongst my competitors who recognize my name as being gentlemanly, respectful, and helpful regardless of the game's outcome. If I lose to a Premade when playing in a PUG for CnH dailies, I do not whine or complain but rather congratulate the other team...just as I would expect to be treated.
Again...sounds like a personal issue between you and Akumarev. You chose to make a PM conversation public and call out an entire fleet because of it. That's on you, my friend. Any and all retaliation is warranted at that point.
I think it's partly this misconception that fuels player ill will. How can we be "spamming torp spread" when we are busy spamming TSS? Or spamming spacebar? Or spamming Ventrilo? Or spamming focus fire? Or spamming teamwork and coordination? We use no tactics that are unavailable to the entire player base. We have no exploits, hacks, or cheats. We take the game Cryptic gave us and beat you with it. Everyone else has access to the exact same skills, powers, equipment, and tactics. We succeed because most others cannot employ them with the same efficacy as we do.
Remember...all that hate doesn't keep you warm, it burns you up in the end.
want our repsect ? earn it
want us to be nice to you? we tried
want play style advice? learn to read, I have posted endless strategies on various forums as well as spoken to you in vent about different strategies, which I see more klingons trying to master more recently then ever. I give advice to anyone that asks without being tools about it.
You have repeatedly begged for advice we gave it to you, you beg for help recruiting we gave that to you, you beg for a ventrilo to use we gave that to you. Now you beg us to give more? sorry I respect and help those that are willing to actually help themselves.
I have and always will leave our door open to those that ask for help.
for the record feel free to join the tourney on the 29th and win the prize at the end.
clearly this mistake is irrelevant to th context of my posts. male or female, being a jerk isnt the way to go. lets let bigones be bigones. ill continue to fight in whatever way is possible in the game get at me for premade action any day of the week <S>
indeed with a calm view of factual history i can say that DOB are stand up gents. just got a litle agitated/frustrated/displeased and lashed out in wrong way. i think thats what most people who "flame" you guys are dealing with here. nothing prsonal all is well appreciation as always for fun fights/ private games/ testing on trible. forgive my tone and know that we all need to "be on the same" team for STO to survive and people to participate in challenging high end premade pvp.
//goes off to read 1000 pages of text and practice new build strategy
