OK ~ So your thinking: what the heck is he doing leaving feedback for his 5 day trial here for?
Well the answer is simple: This is where I spent 4 of the 5 days of my free trial...
1) Issue's Downloading the Client:
When you get your free trial your asked to create an account and then download the game:
~ NO BAD! It took me 3 days to download the game over DSL. Why? I Have A FAMILY that uses the INTERNET and the download can not run 24/7
~ There is no Pause Button on the Launcher. Every time I wanted to cancel / resume the download I learned that I had to point it to the same folder or else it would start over. Otherwise it would start over. Luckily, after catching this fact, that it would go to the wrong folder, not the one I prediscribed the origonally, I pointed it to the right folder and it resumed!
WHO KNEW!!??? ~
Technical FeedBack: Add a pause / resume button onto the download and let it remember where its downloading too!
2) 2 days of Patching:
~ Yes I spent 2 days patching this thing. Back to back patches.... Luckily I didn't follow the instructions right! I mean my 5 day free trial would have been comepletely wasted!!!!
Not So!!! (we'll get to that later)
Technical Feedback: Allow patching the client WITHOUT an account. This is more of an account issue, but given the tech team would have to employ a stratedgy to allow for this to happen... 3) Hoggs and Piggs ... Hoggs and Piggs
So... after spending 3 days downloading the thing, and creating an account, and spending another day or two patching the thing, I get to log in right?
WRONG ~ I get to figure out what the bloody heck is wrong with the thing! I couldn't even get it to the loading screen / progress bar!
Kudo's for MileHighScott? For trying to help me on these forums, though he did get this one wrong I was able to summize that THE PATCHER CAN NOT PATCH FILES WITHIN HOGGS..... it can only re-write or patch the hoggs themselves.... there fore: I had to spend, literally hours... I duno how many, figuring this out, figuring which hogg was at fault, figurin out how to force it to get a new one, DOWNLOADING THE DARN THING!!! etc etc etc...
Technical Issue 3: Could ya make it so that the file verification system actually works?
You know how many steps I had to go through to do a version check, find your crc error logs, figure out the crc error logs are complete TRIBBLE, figure out what file was at fault, and make the leap to rename / move the file to have it replace... THEN download it? All 2gigs of it...
I eventually replaced like 7gigs.. aka the ENTIRE THING... of hoggs to make it work... but..
3a) Sound Issue's ~
This is really 3a... cause well, I deemed that there should be people talking and more effects sounds or music or something... and I Was right... DL Hogg file for sound....
3b) Finally played long enough to get a ground mission and crashed:
I was running pretty stable till this point with no issue's... once again it turned out to be a HOGG File at fault... one of the BINN files...
~ This is where my problems got REALLY BAD.... like they weren't bad enough to begin with.
4) EXTREME OVERHEATING ON VID CARD
OK Finally got everything patched and all the CORRECT hogg files were in. I cleared the error logs again and again and nothing...
.... Until I hit a mission in a nebula cloud during a mission called "Hide and Seek."
I couldn't figure out this one at first. The odd thing was that my RAID5 would cease to function after the PC shutdown. I am not sure how these 2 are linked unless its a shadowed BIOS function from the program / video card at fault. Regardless of this point, my computer would shut down with full graphics in this NEBULA AND ONLY IN THIS NEBULA!!!
I eventually summized it was a heat issue. After replacing my entire systems drivers, dumping a ton of settings in game etc... I went to the OverDrive feature of my CCC and noticed I was running well over 80 degree's C after a meer 2 minutes in this Zone... WOW!!!! It usually runs taxed out at 60 Degrees!!!!
So ~ I dumped all video card settings and lowered it to as low as it could go... followed all guides on multi-processing etc.
Whether random chance, or I did something right by disabling every feature I was able too... After the patch on the 8th I was able to go to the system and finally complete the quest.
Technical Issue 4: You have / had an infinite loop in your programming, or some form of bad code in these Nebula. Ya... looks real cool with the fog hitting the shields... YA SMELLS REAL COOL when my video card FRIES!!!
Needless to say... this was the FIRST DAY I was able to play the game consistantly!!!
I made it to LT. Commander at like 3am... Sadly, the quest to get a new StarShip is BROKE!!! This was like the last straw for me... I finally got some in game help from some nice players who were able to guide me through the quest and swap / test out my new ship.... all the while.... the quest still is NOT Finished!!!!
Anyhow, I woke up in expectations that my account was shut off.... it wasn't .. I did find I was able to roll a klingon now...
SWEET! I Said to myself!!! So I played for an hour or so... got my feet on the ground... went AFK for some coffee and came back to an expired account.....
I have only 1 thing to say about my 5 day free trial (besides omg tech hell ~ This is coming from an I.T. guy that ~ *Drum Roll* Fixes computers and apps all day!!!)
SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH!!!!!
NEXT TIME YOU NEED SOMEONE TO FIX YOUR ISSUES FOR YOU, YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO PAY ME!!!
I didn't really expect any replies. I guess I'll stop trolling. These tech forums are so friendly though! Theres like me and 1 other guy answering questions...

Gotta thank Code Ranger for helping me figure out how to work the WinAmp plugin... awesome feature...
I have a knack for falling into the broken and abysmal. A Keen eye for the misplaced and incorrect. And a speciality in PC's that can not be matched by most...
