I've been playing alot of ship PVP.
Klingon Captain 8.
One of the improvements i'd like to see coming soon is a report by your ship computer on the type of skill your being attacked with.
So if your hit with Viral Matrix, Tachyon Beam etc etc the computer will announce it.
I'd also like to see current PvP audio rechecked.
When i use Engineering team currently and heal an ally i get the computer alerting the enemies shields are down.
Also i've noticed some Klingon ships are re=spawning upside down for the first few seconds.
Somewhere buried in the depths of the UI forum is my suggestion that they implement a Mechwarrior type screen that shows more detail about your ship and what's effecting it:
* Red engines = your engines have been hit by a tactical debuff, e.g., Target Subsystem Engines
* Blue engines = your engines have been hit by a science debuff, e.g., Tractor Beam
* Blue ship (or blue "computer" or "network" or something) = your ship has been hit by a ship-wide science debuff, e.g. Viral Matrix or SNB
etc
Some effects in this game give you graphic effects to tell you what's going on (purple cloud = VM) but many things give you no indication except for a small, vague debuff symbol (sometimes not even that) and the fact that your ship isn't operating like you'd expect.
It's common in an RPG to clearly display what debuffs are on you and STO is definitely not living up to this. I think a mechwarrior type UI element showing you what's wrong with your ship would be great.
Actually we should get one for the target ship, too, so we can see what's wrong with it (ally) or what it has already been hit with (enemy).
The current "tiny debuff symbol" that you have to mouseover and read is far from ideal.
I think they tried with the voice overs unfortunately it doesn't really help as my computer is brain dead and tells me my shields are down when they are not, left shields down when they are not but when my shields really go down she is on coffee break. I guess that is what we get for stealing Fed programs and voices!
Warhammer and other games had ui that would alert you to what was going on.
I have 4 or 5 bridge officers and they stand around doing nothing.
I like the fast battles but it takes away a certain element of planning and tactics and time to react to everything which means they probably have the speed just about perfect.
