What Attack by Escort Causes Global Cool Down on all Abilities

I have been trying to find this one out and have looked through a list of tac officer abiltiies, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know what attack is allowing saying a Mogai Escort or a Hunter Escort to do a global cooldown of about 5-6 seconds on all my abilities and how do I counter it?

    It has nothing to doo with Escorts, its a Science Captain Ability called Subnucleonic Beam. It can scale up to a 30sec global cooldown on everything and there is no counter against it.

    Wow that sounds very fair. Is there any resistance type I can try and build to lower the chance it hits me?

    I thought....THOUGHT APO (Attack Pattern Omega) could remove this debuff but I haven't tried it yet so I can't say for certain.

    Yes.. I think SNB is slightly OP.... everything should have a counter... something that completely disables your ship for 30 seconds with no counter? Either there needs to be more counters or the timer needs to be dropped to 10 seconds...

    No, there is absolutely nothing you can do, the only thing which would effect the duration of this a little bit is if you manage to lower the users Aux Energy right before he fires that thing at you.

    Its currently the most broken and overpowered ability there is in PvP (although some people disagree... mostly science officers) and there are tons of Topics on this in the PvP Forum.

    It's the most broken overpowered ability in the game, period. No skill should be able to disable an opponent for 30 seconds, even if there is a counter, which there is not for SNB.

    As much as hate nerfing, this power needs iether a counter like polarize hull, a short term immunity for target after use, or to have the timer shortened to 10 seconds.

    Sub nucleonic beam + viral matrix = not overpowered at all. Just like the NY Yankees vs. my old peewee league team. It's a fair fight.

    Unless you pop RSP just before getting hit, there is no chance of surviving. Yes, it's OP. And I say that even though I'm currently playing a science captain, and abusing it royally.

    By escorts I assume he means a computer escort. I know the Hirogen escorts spam this ability, and since it isn't an effect it stacks. It is Subnucleaonic Beam btw, a Science officer ability.

    Was more about the anit-spamming than survival. In pve VM is annoying but not a certain death effect.

    Isnt the cool down 10 mins on that skill? That usually means you can only use it once in any PvP battle.

    Overpowered? When you can just cloak for the duration?

    Keep in mind you are not COMPLETELY disabled. It puts everything on cooldown, but you can still maneuver and adjust shield distribution and power levels.

    I think the cool down on mine is about 2 min. But I'll have to double check next time I'm in game. And no, you can't cloak during the duration. It adds a cool down to EVERY skill on your bar. The only thing you can do is fly around in circles like a moron, waiting for all your skills to reset.

    It's a wonderful skill, when you are the one using it. It's an OP'd skill when you are the one being hit with it. This of course is coming from someone that uses the skill :)

    In all honesty, it's not the only OP'd skill. The disable ship one also sucks. You have a good bit of time sitting there, dead in space, with a pink (PINK? Seriously?) cloud around you, waiting for APO to open up.

    Nope, its 1:30min. if I'am not mistaken.

    I must be thinking of a different skill then because the one I am thinking of takes forever to recharge and when I use it in PvP my target disappears and doesnt come back until the effect wears off.

    What I don't understand is what cooldown timers have to do with shield adjusts. I can't even distribute power to my facing shield with that in effect. Also think it should be like VM, it should not effect team abilities (science, engineering etc). Why would a beam suddenly make the crew not be able to do something?

    And yet you could pop evade and spin around and use regular attacks, yes, regular attacks with 125 weapons blazing the science ship. This is just a tactical adjustment for most people, not sure why folks want a tweak it because they don't have their easy "I win" buttons like high yield, etc. Oh but let's give a Death Penalty!!! Yeah, so that with our "I win" buttons, we can mass slaughter folks and dance and laugh.

    As for shields, you can't say shield consumables are on cool down, no wait, you probably can if you used it to boost weapons to 125.. again, its a tactical situation, that's why you have the big guns. And why Science gets to annoy you.

    To me, it's not a game breaking ability, besides, if they anger you to much, ramming speed.

    So let's nerf the science guys, but wait, then they will start complaining that you get to use Dual Cannons and Heavy Dual Cannons and they can't mitigate the damage and it's not balanced, etc.

    And now to the real point. If you work as a team, rather then a solo player in PVP, then while the science ship is focusing on you, your buddies are hopefully plastering him with unpleasantries. Again, this is all tactics and teamwork, not some solo ship versus some solo ship. Science Ships have their problems as well, just ask them.

    And before you say, that's just a science guy trying to save face.... my main ship is a tactical ship.

    My biggest complaint isn't science ships, its the fact that we only get 1 consumable slot. Give us more consumable slots.

    Ok, THAT sounds like Jam Targeting Sensors. Your target hits you with that, and they vanish. That can last about 30 seconds, depending on the lvl of the skill used, and a few other things. The cool down on that, is about 1 - 1.5 min. But that's a BOff skill, not a Science officer or Escort ship skill.

    The other skill in question is Subnucleaonic Beam (sp), which is a Sci officer skill that adds a cool down to all abilities and weapons. It does not stop you dead in your tracks, as you can still maneuver, as well as shift your shield strength, it just keeps you from firing a weapon, or activating any skills.

    Nope, he cant, since evasive maneuver is also blocked out by this and even your guns stop firing.

    Actually, there is a realy wide bunch of defensive abilities which can reduce the damage to your shields/ship enormously... there are even things called "heals" which are the counter to "damage". I know what I'am talking about since my Ship is running a Healing Setup. There are even offensive Abilities like Aceton Field or Target Weapon System which can reduce incomming damage by alot.

    Instantly taking a player out of the game with one click has nothing to do with teamwork, thats only your delusion.
    Science Ships have their problems as well, just ask them.

    Actually I fly a Deep Space Science Vessel myself... but since Science Vessels have pretty much nothing to do with Subnucleonic Beam, I'am not realy sure what to say.

    And here we have the issue !

    With my Raptor I also give a **** about Subnucleonic Beam, cause in Team Battles I'am rarely the target for this. This Ability is mostly used on Cruisers and Science Vessels, to make them less durable then Runabouts by blocking out everything they could use to defend themselves and blow them appart... or to simply ignore them for the rest of the battle because they cant do anything to support their team anyway.

    I'am doing alot of PvP... and from what I can tell, the number of science officers in the low/medium tiers gets higher every day... I even had some matches where I was the only guy on my team not being an scientist. Give it another 3 or 4 weeks and we have mostly only Science Officers in PvP... and thats when the nerfbat will hit them hard... realy hard... like totally cracking their nuts with a critical strike boostet by +200 Crit Severity.

    Nope, even the Shield Redistribution is locked.

    The best way to fix it is to turn it into a 10-second hold+immunity -- in other words it would "shift the target into subspace" or something of the sort.

    I've seen similar things happen in TNG and TOS so it's alright. It should however be fixed.

    Combat engines can allow you to move even when engines are dissabled (thrusters). Might help a bit.
