The patching of STO failed with todays patch. Since I was not able to start the game afterwards, I reinstalled it.
Since then the game freezes at the Cryptic Launcher and states "Trying to update the Launcher. Please be patient. Tried connecting 1 time."
I can ping patchserver.crypticstudios.com as well as telnet port 7255 on that server, which gives the expected "bad connection header" after pressing Enter a few times.
If I do a netstat -n it shows me that there is a connection to 208.95.184.25:7255 waiting - for whatever reason.
However it states an established connection to 208.95.184.164:7255 (I assume this to be a proxy or a loadbalancer backend).
I can manually telnet this adress and port and get the expected "bad connection header".
The nettest utility hangs on port 80. The programm does not proceed any further.
I have reasonable doubts that my ISP is blocking port 80.
netstat says that the connection is established anyway and I am also able to telnet address and port with positive results.
Just for the completeness:
Since I already have played the game on this MacBook Pro long enough to become Commander 8, I do not assume hardware incompatabilities.
According to the Nvidia website's automatic driver check, I have the latest drivers installed for my NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.
However, you can
download my dxdiag output from my dropbox if needed.
If anybody has any suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.
Kind Regards,
Markus
Edit: You can also find my
CRASH and
Shutdown logs on dropbox.
