EU connectivity issues

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Rather than try to comment on each thread, I'm just going to start a new one. We are aware of connectivity issues inside the EU, but these are not coming from us or our direct providers so we can't do anything about it other than wait for affected ISPs to resolve the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to monitor the situation.

tl;dr Not us, sorry, have to wait.

Ok, now we know something atleast, thank you for that. Might be an idea to post this in the launcher to? As a lot of people dont go to the forums.

Am I supposed to believe that multiple ISPs are coincidentally having problems, and these problems are coincidentally only affecting YOU?

How stupid do you think we are?

More likely its a single one with a bad link somewhere. This isn't an issue with your residential ISP, this would probably be something with a backbone provider that runs transit for smaller companies.

Wow, do some research before shooting your mouth off. ISPs connect through other ISPs who connect through other ISPs, way many levels above the consumer ISP you connect to. If some provider somewhere between your ISP and Cryptic's has problems, this could easily affect many people across many different consumer ISPs.

I think we all require a little more information than blaming multiple ISP's! Also the lack of information over the last 5 hours is very poor.

That is complete TRIBBLE, if you actually read the threads to do with this, you will see that it is more than a single country, plus I am sure that if this were an ISP issue it would affect more than just our STO connection. I am running Youtube right now (more populous than YOUR connection Cryptic) and it is running flawlessly.

Don't assume we are a bunch of mindless robots, this is BLATENTLY not an ISP issue.

    TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!

Well at least we've gotten an official reply. Thx Cryptic and I hope the issue is resolved quickly. I'll just have to go watch all ST movies again I guess.

I second putting this in the EU Launcher. Thre are lots of annoyed EU players out there and they won't read this. This is what we want Cryptic; more communication.

It's not just a EU connectivity issue. I've been having extreme problems making the game completely unplayable over the past hour or so, and I'm in Southwest USA.

I must admit I do kinda agree with coderanger, the fact that the EU has such a wide array of ISP's all using different systems and infrastructures makes it difficult to believe that such a large quantity are being effected by the same issue when accessing the game, website and forums, yet other international and US based online softwares and websites are able to be accessed without problems clearly points to an issue with your end.

    For UK Virgin Media customers:

    http://status-cable.virginmedia.com/vmstatus/summary.do

Maybe another effect from what is going on. If they know, i'm sure it will get sorted.

not having issues anywhere else though, WoW works fine (steady 60fps and in dalaran).

    Lotro works fine.

msn works fine. yahoo works fine. Download speed is great.

Cryptic is trying to pass the buck, i for one don't think our regional isps are to blame, there was a guy from germany in the other thread who was having the same issues. come on Cryptic. pretty sure it's you.

now i'll ask again "are you sure?" ....

So basically the internet is broken , but this breaking only effects people trying to connect to cryptics STO server ?
Trying to connect to anywhere else in the world with the internet works just like always but just not to you guys ?

So why can i download the first 10% of your patch but no more ? Is the break up of the internet linked specifically to the 11% of the STO patch ?

I don't think there is connectivity propblem or isp problem or cryptyc fault i simply think that the tribbles have eaten all servers ihihih

The problem is either in Internap i.e. immediate transit with Cryptic or a transit connected with Internap. And the problem only seems to be on one border out of many and that's why most customers are unaffected. But for those customers that are affected Cryptic should be asking Internap to get on the problem.

Got the same issues as everyone else, and I have just downloaded FM2010 from steam in about 7 mins, and am getting 19.5mb/s on speedtest.net, there seems to be very little wrong with my actual broadband connection, also I have noticed that both ADSL and Cable users have problems, surely both systems cant be wired into one socket somewhere in the world?

I think that is just for people using the Virgin email service which would mean it's internal. Also it started in february and this only happened today.

For those of you who dont know how internet routing works..

You at home or college or where ever you are connect to you residential ISP.

In turn this ISP routes data to others ISP's who deal with international routing. Their are thousands of possible routes for data to go via, and we have to wait for the routing protocols to update, be it RIP or OSPF or which ever that ISP is using.

This is why some people on the same ISP can connect while others cant.

I for one on Virgin media can't connect to many services in the USA including Cryptic and Blizzard services.

So unfortunatly this is a wait-and-see time for all of us.

I've been having trouble with my ISP (UK based) for the last 24 hours or so, so it may be related.
