Fear of teaming

There seems to be a Fear of teaming in PVP matches, or even worse if you join a group that is a preformed team, usually they do not join with you. This creates major issues with players who are not teamed.

The way PVP works is not last man standing but a team effort. When it shows 0/40 it dioes not mean I have 40 deaths before I lose, no it means my faction has 40 deaths before we all lose.

The problem is that on person dying all the time (aka a straggler) can take a team who is winning 35/40 vs 15/40 and lose the game for thier faction just by not being teamed, not communicating and not supporting others.

I would like to ask for a minor change to be implemented into the game, one that would help people like me who like teamwork.

No I do not mean auto-teaming, what I would like to request (and it can be a toggled option) is when I join a PVP match all of my sides status bars are displayed to me. I do not join the team and I am not in team communication but at least I can see who's health needs supporting and who is being attacked.

There can be a different color border for people I am not teamed with so I know, but just having insite to peoples status can make supporting them so much easier even if we are not teamed. :)

That would be interesting -- let you see everyone's health bars whether they are in your group or not.

I guess the real problem on the Fed side is that you have to wait so long for queues and you don't want to be grouped with these random people for 45 minutes while waiting on the next queue. Sadly, Cryptic built STO as a largely solo game. There's little reason or opportunity for random people to join a group and stay grouped, because there's nothing to do together -- you're all on different phases of different quests.

This is why I think PvE is stupid: there's no spontaneity in it.

Well, one of the reasons anyway.

i was in a pug team, that was losing badly RA/BG bracket, so I left the team mid way thru the match, I always leave the team after the match, not like i want to wait in Q for a team to be Q'd in, nor on a team that rather sit back passively with no heals or engineering equipment. But it was the team that i left, i got a lecture about team work, and that I should've "instructed" other players how to play....I was in "awe" I had to think...am I enjoying this game, or is this going to be another "job" (WoW raids was like another job, w/o the pay)

As a healer, I absolutely despise people who disallow team invites. I can't do much for you if I can't easily see how you're doing, buddy. When I'm deciding who to keep alive, I'll obviously prioritize the ones who are working with the team's best interests at heart.

Of course, when someone complains that I didn't heal them, I'm not surprised to see it was the loser who isn't teaming. Of course, he's also always the first one to go off on a solo joyride right into the enemy's fortified spot. And it goes without saying that he's also the one who leaves the game when our team is down by the ten kills he gave the other team.

    My opinion:

It should auto-team you when you join. If you are already on a team, it should take you out of that one and auto-join you to the ground pvp team.

Can't leave the team unless you leave the map.

Ok so you enter a match and you have a team of say 3 already. Whos team is THE team? The 3 on your side or the 2 that showed up not in your team? Team work rocks when it works right but forcing someone to auto team is stupid. If they dont want to be in a team they shouldnt HAVE to be in a team.

The more people impose their wants on pvp the harder its going to be to get people to even do pvp.

    Just my opinion.

PS. I do agree there should be some kind of panel like a team showing all the people actually in the match that are on your side, teamed or not and that would allow non teamed healers to do their thing too.

Actually that lack of Teamwork also exists on Klingon side, espacially on the lower levels. Gets much better in higher ranks.

I guess the reason why this might happen on Federation side on higher levels more often is that we KDFs have to learn Teamwork sooner in the game, while a lot of Feds decide after they leveled solo to Commander solo to make PVP the first time.

Now I don't PvP so I can't comment on that aspect. But, on the Defend missions I end up keeping within range of the damage dealing group and cycling through them and making sure that they are healed up. Assuming someone doesn't invite me to group ( in which case I follow them around, watch the team and manually check non team members. ) It definitely would be easier if there was something to signify in range alliance members that may need assistance.
