Microsoft wireless mouse zoom issue

I recently purchased a microsoft wireless mobile mouse 4000 series and have had no issues until I try to use the scroll to zoom in or out in the game. I have seen that a few other users have had similar issues with microsoft wireless mice and STO. I have tried every manner of driver from Microsoft and either the scroll ends up being hypersensitive or it just doesn't work at all unless the wheel is moved really fast a few times (and I have messed with the sensitivity seetings both in and out of the game) I don't like the thought of having to rely on page up and page down to adjust the view. I was wondering if this issue might be addressed in a future patch or not (or if this is just incompatible hardware overall) as I really do like this mouse for gaming and really don't want to return it unless it need be. If it was returned, I'm curious if this would cause that same issue on a logitech wireless mouse? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've read around here that the Microsoft mice need the setpoint software to be able to run correctly on STO. I don't know why.

I'm running a Logitech MX1100 Cordless with the included drivers/software on Win 7(64 bit) and its been running like a champ. If your looking at this mouse in particular, make sure you can try the form factor before buying, I know there's a few people who hate it. I use a similar PerformanceMX at work.

As in the logitech setpoint software, even though it's a microsoft mouse? Weird. Thanks, I'll try that.

As far as I can remember it was setpoint, but it could have been intellipoint. As far as I can remember, setpoint will work with a large variety of manufature's mice.

Yea I've been going down the list with the intellipoint drivers but nothing has worked thus far.
