After Friday Patch - Blue Screen of Death

After Fridays Patch I was in Bajorian space and entered a mission after about 5 min the system and video hard locked . After a reboot received an error message that video drivers appeared not to be working correctly .
Updated - no effect
Ran system restore - appeared to completed correctly
2nd reboot - Blue screen of death with error "nv4_disp.dll"

THis error is generated when game software in correctly allolcates video memory

The net result of this that my machine will not boot into the normal mode operating system

VGA mode still works but even the pre windows spash screen video is messed up
I will flash BIOS and reload but I am not confidant of sucess .

I have a buddy who had the same issue and wound up replacing the card . Is this a plot of STO and the card retailers to build business , by making us buy new hardware

System details

Nvidia G-Froce 8800GT

Reinstall your graphics drivers. Theyre breaking on you.

What brand, model, and wattage is your PSU (power supply)? It might be getting weak with age and causing related problems for your system.

    THE OBSERVATION

It is not the drivers supplied by the NVIDIA that causes the problem. It is the driver that is shipped with Windows itself!

I freshly installed Windows XPSP3 and tried removing NVIDIA drivers using Driver Cleaner Pro. Here is what i got.
