The forums have been overflowing with threads about how Federation players don't feel that cloaking is fair or they wanting cloaking of their own etc. Recently it seems some changes have been made that make us appear on the radar. (A change MANY of us are not happy about)
While reading through some threads on the forums I realized something and I wondered if it wouldn't help solve the problem. Here is my the thought that I would really like your opinions on:
Why can't we fire weapons at any location desired? (Meaning why can't I simply fire on a fixed point in space)
Wondering what this has to do with cloaking? Cloaking isn't the only reason for this change but it does pose an interesting solution. Take the Klingons off the radar when cloaked as they were before and open up firing. If a player thinks someone is cloaked in an area they can simply fire at it. A well placed Torpedo spread would have the definite possibility of doing damage without the certainty currently provided by simply following the red dots and doing a sensor scan. This would also work for the Jam Sensor powers, auto targeting would be disabled but you could try to point and click at your target.
Hey maybe its stupid, maybe its not. Either way I wouldn't mind hearing what you have to say.
Sounds interesting but I see a lot of hurdles. How do you target a place in space? How do you tell the torp what track to take. You would have to enter in X,Y, Z Coordinates.
What about probes? This could be take up a weapons slot. It would act like the Science officer
s scan but would happen at a distance. You set a plot and let it go and it reports back till it dies.
The Feds have a number of missions where Klinks uncloak without warning. Yeah ok they are not nearly as tough as a real player but it is not like pvp is the 1st place they ran into this.

why not a spread of phasers, firing at a set amount of degrees apart like in star trek nemesis?
Cloaking should only last so long. Say at most a minute and then the klingon decloaks and also a few second cooldown before they can cloak again.
And tier 2 bird of preys, and any other ships, that can cloak while a red alert is up (aka in combat) should not be allowed to do so; if a fed ship class can not do the same, as in escape from combat and hide to repair, then a klingon ship should not be able to do the that either.

QQ is the bold part. Klingon ships could cloak and stay that way for a long time as seen in the movies, it is there defining characteristic. On the other hand Federation ships would always fly with their shields down. So, I don't think it is fair that you fly with shields up in-game. I think every federation ship should fly with shields down, and not be able to raise them for 10 seconds after combat starts.
when I play my only BG klingon, and combat cloak, guess what....i get destroyed by all those torpedoes, and phasers, that seem to have a last second lock on me. When I finally get into a match with either of my RA federation tact or science, i have no problem with blasting away at klingons, because of defensive ability on my cruiser or my science sub nuc or vm players while impulsing into the combat area.
So federation players who only play the federation that cries cloaking is op, really are the same cry babies who cry when stun locked by a rogue who has been in stealth waiting for the right moment to kill their intended target.
But back to space pvp, when I play either side, its always a good fight winn or lose. Pick ur BOs skill so u can counter, and recounter, and dance in circles. If u see a Fed player solo, call out "NoooooooB!" get back with the group. Those players are ez pickings.

The entirely of the above is the stupid moron reply in every thread for a forum part.

1) Your bad luck then, perhaps you shouldn't do it. Most of the time when I see if happening in game, the BoP lives and runs away like the coward they are, every once and awhile they are killed.
2) Not talking about BO or ship skills here, talking in general terms. I'm only T2 ships right now, could careless about T5 skills or such.
3) I play 2 feds and 2 klingons. And yes, cloaking is op. A klingon can sit in cloak and do nothing till he has 1 fed alone for 1 on 1 (if the klingon is into fair play AT ALL) or more than likely wait for all 5 klingons to get into the map or till the others come over and that gang up on 1 fed. If that is not op to you, or anyone else, you've got to be the stupidest moron(s) online.

Isnt there a "My Little Poney" MMO where you could go whine that pink is overpowered and blue should be able to beat them all the time?
Seriously; have you ever watched star trek? Klingons use cloak; sometimes even at warp. Federation usually runs without shields, unless in battle. But they're not usually in "battle" before they get attacked; which gives cloakers the first strike totally undefended most of the time.
Cloak in the game works fine; it's the best compromise between gameplay and the show; if you can't deal with it; too bad... maybe go find an other mmo.

It would be epic if everytime they were forced to come up from 0 shields to full shield power
"After All we are one big Happy Fleet! Let them Eat static!"

Yes, I have seen every ST show and movie, but the new movie since I no longer go to theaters; have to wait for it to come on cable. And guess what, they do go around with their shields down unless expecting battle; but then again so do the klingons and every other space race in ST. Only a moron would keep their shields up 100% of the time since it would be a waste of power most of the time. As for shields already being up on the pvp maps, they are battlezones and such, battle is expected, so shields are up.
As for cloak, as it is, it makes every klingon player the rogue or stealth type while feds get no stealth type at all. This is not the shows or movies, this is a game. And a good game has balance and fair play.

Then why don't you go check in game what strength Starfleet possesses that Klingon doesnt?
You do realize that you can see us on your map while we are cloaked right? And with the right power settings attack us and bring us out of our cloak right?
And as far as Im aware no game ever has balance and fair play, what world do you live in. Klingons have cloak. As do Romulans. Feds dont, never have, never will. Roll a sci officer or a sci ship. Or wait for the attack with 100 to shields.
Oh and T2 is all Klingon. Atleast if they have any idea what they are doing. So really you have a slim chance on wining, if thats what youre after. Wait for T3 then come back.

then dont decide to run when you have 20% hull left, thats just begging for the torp train to run you over...
almost sure you are wrong. feds can and have used cloak. they just wont because theres a "law" against using them.
Only two-three starfleet ships ever had cloaking:
- USS Pegasus; .... phase/cloaking device, ended badly...
- USS Enterprise-d; recovered the pegasus device; and used it to escape being trapped inside the asteroid into which the pegasus got stuck (using the said phase device)
- USS Defiant; which was allowed to use cloaking inside the gamma quadrant
But otherwise the federation signed the Treaty of Algeron with the Romulans; the minute the federation uses cloaking technology; they'll break the truce with the romulans and plunge into a full scale war... romulans only wait for a reason to enter a war; but they won't take the first step openly.
