Proposal: Make one deathmatch map into a FFA.

Take, say, Deserted Facility and Brier Patch and make them into free-for-all maps that will launch with the first 2 players to queue up, but will accept up to, say, 10 players?

First player to reach 20 kills wins (XP and medals all around as usual).

No teams. Just a free-for-all deathmatch.
  • Fixes problems for Klingons where there aren't enough players to start a real match (off hours / low levels)
  • Could also be a solution for Feds and their long queue times.
  • Easy to implement.

It would actually make more sense as a Klingon-only thing but I'm sure we can come up with some excuse to let the Feds in on it too.

Yes, this is a really shallow game type idea (which I am generally against) but it does solve what may be a serious problem, particularly on the Klingon side, when there aren't enough people queuing up for any other kind of normal PvP.

I fully support this idea and think it would help with a lot of the leveling issues. Shoot, with Feds able to join we wouldn't even need the FvF PvP.

Deserted Facility: Upon entering the facility you discover why it was abandoned: an infectious agent that causes the victim to go into a fit of rage permeates the facility! Fight for your survival.

Brier Patch: A mysterious burst of radiation from the Brier Patch has struck all ships within five lightyears. The radiation appears to cause severe paranoia and you are starting to suspect those other ships are piloted by Undine. Don't let those *******s survive!

I also support this, while I would love to have a single FFA Solar System that people can enter as they wish, this would do in a pinch.

Would be interesting, and does solve a few queuing problems, by avoiding the issue entirely.

Your right, it'd be a totally shallow shooting match. And I'd enjoy it.

But I don't think now would be the best time to implement it. Certain abilities like spamming VM, subnuc, FBP, and unstoppable "iwin" combos like jam sensors/VM and double VM, or RSP and FBP stacking would just become horribly prevalent, and start to ruin everyone's match.

Once those things get ironed out, It'd be a blast, and I'd fully support it.

Honesty, I don't see why they haven't done some sort of Assimilation style PvP game, where a couple people start of as "Borg," and everyone else is on a team, and as people are killed by the Borg players, they switch over to the Borg side. This would be especially awesome if the Borg players were reassigned powers for the PvP match (ie. a single shield regeneration power [adapt shields], a single ranged attack [some sort of built-in arm weapon -- does higher than normal damage with expose chance -- note: no ranged exploit], and two melee attacks: one that does minor damage with high chance to expose and one that does exploit damage [Note: these would be the ONLY powers the Borg players would have access to -- traits, class powers, skills, and equipment should be disabled for Borg players]), and small buffs to shield, resistance, perception, and hp for the duration of the match (note that players that were Borg would not benefit from any equipment or skills that they had on their character). Those who were on the Borg side would obviously have Borg models for the duration of the map, as well. The match ends when everyone has been assimilated. Players from both the Klingon and Federation factions would be fighting together for survival.

This is a great idea. I would also be on board for a team map that fills up both sides regardless of faction. They can explain it away as 'You've joined forces with klingons/starfleet to defeat a group of ships controlled by the Udine. But not to derail this thread.

FFA idea = Brilliant. Go Go Go

Doesn't sound like a derailment to me, sounds like a great idea :D
