For over 8hours now the Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate that comes up when you try to launch the game has been telling me that it's:

"Trying to update the launcher.
Please be patient."

I think I've been patient. Yes, I've got no firewalls going. My browser is not set to working offline. And I've tried booting it from the disc and not to desktop link.

Can someone give me some advice that is going to help? I paid a lot more than I wanted to for this game and would like to spend my gameplay time actually playing the game, and not fixing bugs.

I'm sorry if I sound frustrated but I've tried everything these forums have suggested for other people and nothing has helped.

What exactly you have done (post the results of the pings and nettests and any other test) and which browser did you check to see if off line?

    * Right click the STO game launcher and Run as administrator
    * Make sure Star Trek Online.exe and Gameclient.exe are allowed to connect to the internet through your firewall and antivirus programs
    * Make sure TCP 80, 443, and 7000-7500 are open outbound on your PC software firewall and router / modem hardware firewall
    * Do not port forward TCP 7000-7500 on your router / modem

You didn't mention Run as administrator so if you aren't doing that, try that first.

What error do you have in your STO logs that match your date and time stamp?

Did you check your netstat -n and try to connect to that 208 address and TCP port with Telnet? Did you get a packet capture?

There is no errors in the STO log. I've tried running as admin many times and there is no difference.

I have made sure all installed browsers are set to working online.

The netstats all came up as "established"
