Ok, I've seen a lot of other forums about problemes with the launcher, and so far I have not found an answer to mine. I recently bought Star Trek Online, installed the game, on my desktop, but when I clicked on the launcher to play, I immediately receive an error report. It basically says that your Cryptic Application has crashed, and it asks you to fill out what happened. There is no error code number except for the error ticket ID that it gives you for your error report. I installed it on a laptop, and the launcher worked fine. However, the laptop does not meet the game requirments. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times on the desktop, but with the same results. Does anyone have any idea?
Take a look in the game directory for a log file that has the same date and time as the last launcher crash. Copy the errors from today and paste them to this thread.
Ok, here are the crash reports under a text document titled 'errors' in the STO program files:

I also found this in the same area under a text document titled 'CRASH' :100307 01:23:03 1 MasterControlProgram[1]: Shutting down: C:\src\Core\CrypticLauncher\patcher.c(100)
But I don't know if that means anything.
And the error ticket ID it gives me is: 4544685.
And thanks for the help.
Uninstall Nvidia Application Firewall - This is a known issue initializing OLE/COM before STO can run. It is installed with Nvidia chipset drivers, not graphics card drivers. Look for Forceware network access manager as an installed program and uninstall it.
You will find the following error in the errors.log file:
100223 08:21:20 1 [1]: OLE failed to initialize: 80010106
100223 08:21:20 2 [1]: Shutting down from fatal error "OLE failed to initialize: 80010106"
I found the file, but is there a way to get around the problem without uninstalling it. I'd just rathr not uninstall something that I have no idea about. And I don't know if it makes a difference but the ForceWare Network Access manager firewall is not active.

It's a third party application firewall that was installed during your motherboard chipset driver install. A known issue for many programs, causing errors like you are getting. You could attempt to update it to the latest version or manage it, but you'd need to go to NVidia for that help.
For the moment I'm going to look into other alternatives, but thanks for the imput milehighscott. I filed a support ticket last night but haven't gotten a response, but I'll keep looking

Ahh, OLE failures. These come from another program on your system hooking into our application startup and disrupting it (initializing OLE/COM before we do and doing it wrong). A known offender is the Nvidia Application Firewall (comes with the chipset drivers, not the GFX stuffs), but it could be almost anything. You need to find and disable/uninstall the offending program >_<
No, it doesn't matter if the Nv Firewall is disabled, it must be entirely uninstalled. Some other programs known to cause this are WideCap and NetNanny.
Just one last question before I uninstall it: Is it important at all to my computer? What i mean is the program something my computer should have, and will my computer be fine without it? In the way of security there are a couple anti-virus softwares on this computer already.
Once again, thanks for the help.

It's independent of your chipset drivers if you uninstall it through add/remove programs.
I am very grateful for the help you've given me so far, and I don't mean to be difficult, but what I mean to say is: Will uninstalling that forceware network acess manager have any negative effects on the computer. I know that it's independant of the chipset, but does it present any sort of security risk if I don't have it. Really I just want to know if it is overall somewhat important to the computer.
Thanks,

No, the normal windows firewall is fine for daily use.
