Today, I logged on STO. After cleaning the spam out of my mailbox, I went to check out what Daily quest I had lined up... and found Mackenzie Calhoun offering me the 'Reclaim the Neutral Zone' Daily PvP quest, upon which I felt crestfallen and thought "Oh no, not that one again".
For those not familiar with it, 'Reclaim the Neutral Zone (Daily)' is about doing 3 PvP matches in the Salvage Operations PvP map. At least, that I know of. Maybe Enemy Mine is also included but the mission description has never made this clear - regardless, I never got to test if Enemy Mine worked for it, simply because I never could enter Enemy Mine.
Generally, when accessing 'Salvage Operation', I see something like roughly a hundred players in queue on the Fed side, generally 0 players in queue for the klingon side.
The last time I completed that mission, it was on a weekend. Because the PvP pop up was being unreliable (and it still presently is) I needed to sit still, have my PvP window open so to be sure to miss nothing, and I waited without doing anything else (because when otherwise engaged doing exploration missions or playing in Borg Hunt, I got messages saying that I failed to respond, despite never getting anykind of opportunity to respond). In the end, it took me roughly 7 hours to complete the 3 Salvage Operation games needed to finish this daily - and that was mostly waiting.
So perhaps you find my observation of "Oh no, not that one again" understandable. Maybe others share my plight - in that it takes forever to access one of those PvP games - and I've found of late that PvP queues were very slow lately anyways, even for more accessible stuff like 'Cracked Planet'. I didn't have to wait as long 15 minutes to access one of those before - usually 5 minutes would be my maximum waiting time.
Maybe it's just because I'm in the admiral tier, and players there are still scarce... but I've grown very weary of that - especially considering the time investment 'Reclaim the Neutral Zone (Daily)' now seems to requires.
All I can do now is make a vague plea of 'please make it better!' or tell me if - per chance - I am doing something wrong. If you've shared a similar situation, feel free to chime in and add your voice to mine. Perhaps, if the issue is considerable enough, some fix or alterations on the PvP Dailies will be considered (such as allowing choice instead of random selection - meaning I wouldn't have to do Salvage Operations anymore =P.
I don't think it'd be too farfetched a statement to say that those who have made BG 5 on Klingon side are not requeueing at the pace it took to get to that tier. I'd also think some are dropping due to lack of resub. I know mine is running out on the 8th, have yet to see a reason to stay on. I'd recommend rolling a Klink to play with.
It's really more of a problem with PvP drying up in the lower tiers, Klingons and Feds quitting, and the general annoyingly slow grind on the Kling side discouraging people from putting time into it.
