I have had a mass of issue's since I started my 5 day free trial. In fact, ALL IVE HAD IS ISSUE'S!
My feedback once my trial is done is going HERE ... on the tech support forums! Its where It belongs, because this is where I have spent all of my time during said free trial. I think I have 1 day left. I fix 1 problem and another creeps up....
... here I go doing someone else's job for them ...
That Being SAID:
BIN.HOGG has a looping issue thats driving my Video card CRAZY!!! It is the file I replaced due to another issue that was causing a CRC error. Since I have replaced this file I can not go to the Lackey Solar System's cluster? on the hide and seek quest. I completed 1 quest there BEFORE this file was replaced without issue. Yet when I go back to a system where I am inside a nebula my video card goes from 60 degrees to over 80+ and eventual shutdown in under 5 minutes.
These are the steps that I have taken to prevent this over heating and this is WHY I have de-evolved this to being a software client issue:
2) turned off ALL troubleshooting options... that could increase GPU usage and turned ON all options that could decrease GPU usage
3) Installed New drivers and catalyst control center
4) rolled back drivers to stock Windows 7 approved drivers
* Omega Drivers unavaliable at this time
5) Started the client with safe mode enabled
6) Limited frame rate etc
7) changed the config files to think it only has 1 processor
8) I thought it was one of the anomoly's textures for a time... every time I would clear the first wave of ships and scan the mine I would crash approaching the next item to scan... this was not the case..
During testing, I have found that If I just stand still after entering the system and do nothing.... It still over heats and shuts down my PC.
This is not a client side / video card / hardware / software related issue.... I had no issue flying through Nebula before I replaced this file.
Feel free to give me advice on how to solve it... I'll try anything... I have 1 day left.
Inside the ATI Control panel try setting the catalyst AI to standard if it isn't and if it is standard then disable it. Also be sure the Enable Adaptive Anti aliasing is turned off. While I haven't gotten into the game yet (still begging around for a trial key myself) those two settings I've had cause me some problems in other games.
Ok well if those aren't it you may want to try telling the launcher to do a force check to verify all the game files otherwise I'm at a loss. Sorry.
That doesn't work because the file verification system does not scan within Hogg files. It only works for the total hogg file. You have to copy the hogg files to a different folder then it will replace the entire hogg file.
I've done this for EVERY hogg file....

Just a guess, but may be worth a try.
Edit: To the posters with suggestions... yes did that... yes did that too... I generally get paid to do this stuff for a living...
