More variety needed in PvP

I have been playing Space PvP (referred to later as PvP if not specified otherwise) since Lieutenant grade and i love it, but it do think that there needs to be more variety to the PvP maps and the game modes.

Easier access

For me, as my fleets PvP commander, it is really difficult to get a person that does PvE to even come and try PvP. The reason is usually that it is too different, essentially shocking the player, there is nothing familiar form PvE almost, there is nothing to scan or board etc. Sure it might sound funny to most but it would be great if PvP maps and game modes had some tasks that would enable beginner players to ease into PvP. Some examples could be:

-implement secondary tasks that arent critical but still matter like reinforcing positions with weapon placements or other supportive equipment
-implement holodeck training missions where you can script training missions for the new recruits etc, they could be static if its too hard to make em scriptable. Also allow for recording of PvP sessions, later to be played in holodeck, so people can learn from their mistakes or successes.


Go from tactical to strategical PvP

Right now the PvP battles are good tactical challenges if you have a capable team. I think that adding a longer term/duration effects that would add strategical dimension to the game would be extremely useful. Strategic scope would add a lot of supporting/secondary roles to the PvP battlefield as there would more things to do then just to tank or spam. The additions that make it possible could be:

-larger maps, a simple solution to make dying matter and would force people to think and make a tactical retreat a viable and required option
-capturable buff structures: Scanner stations that would add sensor range so the fleet commander can plan his moves better. Starbases that would serve as forward spawn points. Mining stations for domination points or added resources if they are implemented...etc
-deployable ships. Ships that could reconfigure in time to static fleet supports as turrets or healing stations etc. It could be as easy as stopping a ship and turning all the power to AUX or Weapons and be able to move between those radical power changes.
-transwarp conduits/wormholes within a map. They could be induced by controlling certain structures on the map or natural and would add movement buffs to the owning side pluss it would create choke points to focus the action on the large maps.


Mixed PvP

As far as i can see there are 2 separate PvP player groups forming. The ones that play mostly Ground PvP and those who play Space PvP. I think that they should have the opportunity to support one another, especially in a fleet action.

-in strategic maps the capturable stations would be capturable only by way teams that consist of other players.
-could also be implemented in tactical battles as they could be the people in those boarding party shuttles


More game modes that rewards co-operation. Right now it seems to be "be tank or be dead" or "spam or be spammed". I know that skill wise there allready is a good mechanic to encourage teamplay but i feel that teamplay should be promoted not onyl by skills but also with game mechanics.

So devs if you have anything like this planned, please do post. And for the community - let it rip, offer some more suggestions or bash away :) (what ever makes you happy)
