Yes... I know there are tons of Topics on this allready... but after doing today some PvP again I just have to congratulate whoever put this Abilitiy into the game !
You know... as it is right know, PvP for me as a Science Vessel Healer is only enjoyable if there is no Science Officer at all in the Opposing Team, since if there is one or god forbid even two I'am forced to watch the game as a spectator. This stuff realy destroys me... just one silly click and I can doo absolutely nothing for up to 30sec... other then watching my teammates being blown up.
If I would be an Escort or Cruiser I could at least dish out some modarate damage with my Connons or multiple Beam Arrays while being unable to use any of my abilities for half a minute... but as a healer which relies on his abilities you are completely useless. Once the stuff wears out you get the next one... you get chained by this stuff and you can be ignored fot the whole match.
This is not fun, this is only frustrating, broken and lame... seriously... one klick to negate a whole player with no posibility to counter this at all? Its ridiculous...
Just nerf this allready... make it removeable with some Ability or cap its duration in PvP to 10sec... and add some diminishing returns if its used over and over again on the same player (this last part you can also apply on viral matrix).

You cant even do that as you cant fire either
I had another idea to 'fix' SNB. Keep the timer as it is then people can still choose to spec/skill into it, but..
1) Make its range 5km. (means people will have to get quite close to the action to use it and klinks will have to be well into visual cloak range.)
2) Make it affect only 8 or 10 randomly selected skills for whatever duration people have skilled it up to. A bit like boarding party. You could even have it affect all the skills of a certain tree or system randomly. Basically introducing a chance element that the firing player has no control over and the affected player is not totally shut out from all their skills. They might get TRIBBLE skills on CD, they might get good skills on CD but they will always have some to use.
3) Allow you to fire back when SNB is active on you.
4) Stun immunity. As soon as someone is hit with SNB they cant have it put on them again for 2 minutes and it cannot be stacked whist its active on someone.
Got hit 9 times by it in one battle last night. All science bops+carriers, using vm+fbp+sub.
Good fun. It seems some people dont want real battles anymore. Good for us, there are still people that want to play and enjoy the game with good battles.
i am one of those annoying bop using sub/vm tyrants. tbh i wonder if caught by a cruiser i would have any effect at all on it before i blow up without the ability to disable. vs a good escort i have about 7s to disable it, maybe less before i go boom.
I played right through t4 and bow into t5. in t4 i saw the same people mostly over and over in each scrn. After 50 games or more they must have know when my name was on the roster that the sub/vm git was in and that eventually it would be them. Yet true to form off they went on their own to retake a cap point. it makes me wonder sometimes, you know when a klingon is trying to take back a cap because it glows, oddly it does the same for us. if your cappin i am comming for a peak don't do it.
in those open swirling fight i would sub vm, and through out the whole fight i would not even be a target, once or twice pehaps but the cruisers took the brunt of it (again in salvage when you have to be uncloaked to cap) this from people who clearly knew who i was and what style i used. Only one fed made a point to deal with me, and as it was only him i was able to keep an eye out and switch to him, sometime i got him, sometimes i went boom too fast
in t5 i have only spent one day, now BG3 but i was using the same old same old and i hit some lone player and killed them. this player started crying in zone that i sub/vm him then cloaked, i was attacked by others so switched to disable then returned to him as he became free and started shooting, so i used jam sensors while i waited for the disable to pop up. I laughed at his lack of understanding of the game and that at t5 he could not see the difference between cloak and jam sensors, he then proudly proclaimed he had no less that three RA5's. perhaps he should have spent a bit more time actually learning the game and what effects are what than grinding out toons on pve the same old way.
I had another fed ask me in a pm about my abilities, when i mentioned photonic officer he had no idea what it was, so i told him. again at t5. it surprises me less and less that there is so much complaining on these boards people really haven't bothered to learn the game at all as far as what is available. This can go for both sides, i see some klingons continue to fire away at someone with extend shields on them rather than follow the clear blue line back to the source and attack the now more vulnerable helper.
if you try to go it alone you will get killed, you might get a cruiser show up so you can have that 15min beam battle or you might get me, in which case i am going to shut down your systems and blow you away. If you're in pairs i might give it a go but the odds of my having time to disable/debuff kill before my paper ship is either forced to retreat or goes boom is much higher. Cloaks one advantage is to help picking of stragglers, in open world pvp i could understand you being caught, however you joined a small pvp map, so you know we're out there looking at you, so stop making it so easy and stop complaining when you do.
I'am not complaining abou being killed by some VM/Subnuc/Jam BoP while crawling around solo at some place in nowhere... I'am a healer, my role is support so i usually never doo this, I stay with my team.
The Problem is: I move with my team -> battle starts -> Opposing Team finds out I'am the healer -> game over for me since I will get a subnuc every time so that I'am completely unable to support my team in any way.
If there is more then one science officer I can go AFK since the only thing I will be able to doo for my team is to catch those subnucs for them.
The vast majority of the moaning in this section of the forum is from people who dont know the game. People that have their cosey little PvE combos and strats that take down 100 npcs in one hit. Then they come PvP thinking they are the dogs under bits and get hosed. Of course its not their lack of skill or understanding of the game its someone else exploiting or cheating or using all the OP skills or whatever else BS excuse they come up with for their own failings.
Tbh the game is pretty well balanced once you learn it properly. There is handful of 'OP' skills left now that need a tidy up around the edges but nothing absolutely game breaking. I am sure they will all get whats coming to them soon enough alas I fear even then it wont be enough for the whiners who will find some other outlet to vent their failings off onto.
If your team has only one designated healer (you), your team is not doing it right. Every ship - every ship - should have basic shield/hull healing skills such as science team, engineering team, hazard emitters, dampening field for science officers, and other examples. So, if the main healer (you) does happen to get subbed, your team can at least keep you alive long enough for you to RSP immediately after coming out of sub.
The fact that an enemy team targets your team's main healer (you) is not "broken, lame, overpowered, nerf-needed". It shows that the enemy team made a very smart, tactical move. And if your team loses through a chain of events simply because of that tactic, then that just means the enemy team has out-played yours. It's that simple. Step up your game, coordinate with your team more, make sure everyone has the basic, mandatory BO skills, and just work with your team to overcome these situations.

Almost exactly my point, not every klink is a sci spamming sub/vm like evil me, in fact i see a lot of tac, however my point is we (klingons generally) identified you as pivitol in the game and dealt with you. Your team could identlfy me and deal with me, or stop thinking only of themselves and chuck a sci team or two at you as it is in their overall interest to do so, they choose not too however and you are removed from the fight. You have a team support setup, this does not mean you do not need support yourself. your team must think ah cool healer i can pew pew without regard now.
give up the fed side roll a klink go support and you will get a place in any grp i am in, just call it when your attacked and i'll make it a point to hound that person out until they rage quit

Say whatever you want, this has nothing to doo with tactic. I have no problem with them targeting me first and taking me out in some way... but with ONE ****ING CLICK for 30sec without any way of getting out of this every single fight and more often then enough even twice, which results in one minute being absolutely useless is just stupidly overpowered.
How am I supposed to enjoy PvP if I'am not allowed to doo anything ? This Beam just crys for a nerf...

You are right with everything, exept for one thing...
Most of the time I survive those 30sec even without support because they just shut me down with this and ignore me. Even if they Focus Fire on me and with the help of my Team I would somehow survive those 30sec this would not change the part I'am complaing about: I cant doo anything, I can just fly around circles and watch the others shoting at each other... because this Subnuc Beam is the absolutely perfect counter against any support ship, since it renders it completely unable participate in the battle.
i found most (tho not all ) escorts follow the crowd, if they attack i will jam them and focus on the sci. While the escort does rip me a new one unchecked, most likely as a dps ***** they will just switch to another target an pew pew some more. very few will use a sci team to reaquire me. the sci on the other had can really bugger up you and your teams day, nothing worse that getting sub'd and or vm and knowing it is probably all over unless someone is on that player. Not complaining mind you, that would be wrong as i do it all day long to others.

there are no ways to counter or mitigate SNB, the most common "attempt" is to have your team prop you up with alot of healing because you become a target for focus fire (which only counters a side effect - everyone attacking you - and not actually countering SNB).
well thats my issue with it. No way to break myself out once I've been subnubbed.
I find it strange that klingons do target science ship that way...usualy is escorts who are eaten first...
Thats what they doo... until they notice the Escort wont go down because of my backup. On the next spawn they simply put a Subnuc on me and fry the Escort and what else is there like usualy while I can fly circles and watch whats going on.
In every Game I played up until now there was some way to negate effects like this... in Dark Age of Cemelot the Realm Ability Purge... in WoW the Insignia... even in City of Heroes there where alot of Buffs to get out of CC or grant immunity.
An Ability which renders a player completely useless for such a long time and canot be escaped, negated, countered or whatever and is even chainable is just totally insane... one click = player out of the game... this has nothing to doo with tactics... its way to simple.

God, I'm tired of hearing this complaint... There is a very simple solution to VM and it's called:
HEAL YOUR TEAMMATES!!!!
If you can be disabled with SNB + VM for 30 SECONDS, it's only because not one single player on your team, apparently, is playing as part of a team. Science Team I is an Ensign level ability and you have four teammates who have it, or something else, that will break VM and heal you in the same way. If no one on your team is capable or willing to do this, you deserve to lose because your teamwork sucks!
gotta say the sub nuc is painful. and im sure that it will see retooling at least for pvp.
I would love to see a passive resist chance based on points spent for this and VM as well as an inturrupt. as for diminishing returns.....im on the fence with this, without it a sci ship is a hell of alot less important in a pvp situation. I would like to have all the classes of players and ships be useful in game and while im all for an adjustment i wouldnt want to see its usefulness completely removed.
and no im not a sci anything. im cruisers/carriers for both sides
Well you got to give it to the Sci defenders. One of their own is telling them they have a power that is OP, and they still won't listen. I love the nerve of guys that say L2P when they have the easiest "one-click" tactical advantage in the game. They don't have to learn to play because they can just disable anyone they choose at will. Yet they are so arrogant as to think they have "skill".
"support your teammate" argument. Yeah so what?? You should have to support your teammates in ALL factors of this game to win, not just ONE uber classes I KILL YA button. This is not about "support", since support should be a given to any sucsess for all manner of abilities.
There is no counter to SNB. There is a counter for every other single ability in this game. End of argument. SNB defenders have lost.
The issue here is a broken insane CC that ruins the game for everyone. It ruins it not only for those who's ship is disabled, but it also ruins it for those that by using it are giving themselves delusions of grandeur at how great they are, when in reality it is far too easy for them.
I'am not complaining abou being killed by some VM/Subnuc/Jam BoP while crawling around solo at some place in nowhere... I'am a healer, my role is support so i usually never doo this, I stay with my team.

Same complaint different melody. Thanks for playing.

Didn't I already counter this arguement a few posts ago? VM can be countered with science team, but thats not the point of this topic. There is no counter to SNB, healing is no more a counter to it than abandon ship is to RSP.
Well I'm kinda new to this game, and a little newer to PvP in it. I was happy at T1 in it, and T2, T3 was getting a little awkward.
On T4 now, and I shudder to think what T5 must be like. Does anyone actually move or shoot at all? Just curious Broken PvP is very Broken. It's irritated me enough that a game I was looking forwards to has basically turned out to be WoW-in-Space, only less well designed, but stuff like this takes the mickey. I'm more of an fps/rts/flightsim kinda person, so this just makes me lol all over. Hell, the wife's a semi-"pro" WoW nut and she thinks it's crazy.
RSP doesn't stop hull damage. FBP doesn't stop hull damage, though it's massivey broken with regards to the % it feeds back. VM is getting a bit tetchy, because it forces your oponent to have a specific skill to counter it, and the CD on the counter is longer than the CD on effect, which isn't right.
SNB has no counter. 1v1 you're dead, if your team doesn't stop everything to throw heals at you, you're dead. Take a high-powered hit, just go afk It's fun for one person: the person wth SNB. It's not fun for anyone else. That's the biggest problem. Random skill disables, doesn't disables weapons, doesn't disable defensive counters. That'd be nice, and fair.

Science team 1/2 dont work with VM loads of times. 50% chance to work.. Thats nice, there is no counter to SNB aswell. And yes ofcourse if you got 4 guys healing you. You can survive longer, but its nut guaranteed. Keep in mind that the team mates also are busy with surviving. Not everyone in a team is able to heal if one guy gets hit by SNB.
SNB = free kill, engineer and tactical. What do they have? No power thats really that usefull. And most people play in pugs. I try to play as team player, but you cant rely on team mates. People are mostly thinking about themself first, than the team.

You want to talking about every member bringing some healing? Sounds like a pre-made. Here's a pre-made Idea for ya. 5 science Klingons in BoP's who all SNB all five players. All five can do nothing while the five BoP's pick off about two of them, then cloak. They come back once their SNB is back up. Rinse - Repeat - Win.
This should not be possible to pull off. Anyone who thinks SNB is fine is a science officer Klingon. Find me one Federation player who is RA5 and has pvp experience who thinks SNB is ok. I dare you to find just one. Good hunting.

Or a failboat Feddie afraid they won't be able to compete... The number of times I have lost to a Sci ship in a 1 v 1 because of Snb is sad...
I don't care how it's fixed, but something has to be done to make SNB defeatable or mitigatable. 30 seconds of being locked out of combat, of being unable to heal yourself or your teammates, wow...
Tactical and Engineering captains have nothing of this magnitude. I can't believe something this wildly overpowered made it into the game.
Can a mod fix the title of the post? Might make it easier to find this thread.

I would like to have all the classes of players and ships be useful in game and while im all for an adjustment i wouldnt want to see its usefulness completely removed.
and no im not a sci anything. im cruisers/carriers for both sides
Same complaint different melody. Thanks for playing.
And yes it needs nerfing/counters asap..
Didn't I already counter this arguement a few posts ago? VM can be countered with science team, but thats not the point of this topic. There is no counter to SNB, healing is no more a counter to it than abandon ship is to RSP.
On T4 now, and I shudder to think what T5 must be like. Does anyone actually move or shoot at all? Just curious
Take a high-powered hit, just go afk
And if was the thing that saved their life..
Tactical and Engineering captains have nothing of this magnitude. I can't believe something this wildly overpowered made it into the game.
Can a mod fix the title of the post? Might make it easier to find this thread.
Yes... that would be nice
This is what happens if english is not your mother language and you just google for a word you are not familiar with^^
You're not paying as much attention to this thread as you think you are, feel free to keep yelling about VM though.
