Sensor Scan/Jam Sensors. Exploitable?

Hi,

I have a question for some of you PvP gurus out there. I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but I couldn't find it with a search of the forum.

A friend and I were testing out different weapon layouts and abilities against each other. Seeing what everything did in a combat situation and seeing how we would both deal with it. It came time to try out everything we discovered in a short dual between each other. I had been able to counter everything he had been able to throw at me until he hit me with a Sensor Scan followed up directly by Jam Sensors. Now I figured I'd just use my Science Team to clear the Jam Sensors but when I poped it nothing happened. My shields were temporarily recharged and I had the Science Team buff on me, but Jam Sensors didn't clear and neither did the Sensor Scan debuff.

I figured that maybe it missed or something or maybe my game laged and the ability went off but the effect didn't stick. I told him about it and after he finished destroying me we decided to test to see if it was a problem on my end or not. So he hits me with a Jam Sensors and my Science Team was able to clear it. That got me thinking. I told him to hit me with a Sensor Scan followed up by Jam Sensors. This time my Science Team was unable to clear Jam Sensors or Sensor Scan. So I just hung there placated for 15 seconds with no way to clear my sensors.

My question to you is;

What abilities can I use that will clear Jam Sensors when he is using Sensor Scan/Jam Sensors on me.

If it matters we are both RA5. I am a Tac officer using a T5 Escort and he is a Sci officer using a T5 Science Ship.

    However Sci Team was intended to work, it only clears one sci debuff per application. Hence, if a Sci pilot hits you with both jam sensor and sensor scan, or any two sci abilities, you're gonna have to eat one of them.

    And a proper Sci officer flying a science ship will destroy anyone 1v1 if he's somewhat competent. You're not doing anything wrong. The cards are stacked heavily against you. Be thankful he didn't hit you with something like Subnuc and VM, then you wouldn't even be able to fly in circles, just sit there and die.

    It's in the game, so technically not a "exploit." Just abusive, completely unfair, and can't be countered 1v1 :).

    Adding a little oil on the subnuc fire... even as a team it can't be countered; all you can do is try to keep that subnuked target alive for the duration. That thing needs a counter. It's not just "unfair"; but it completely removes the player from the game; one button, and up to about 30 seconds of NPC fight; that doesnt even fight back... skills that turn PVP temporarily into PVE shouldnt exist; and if you really need that kind of crowd control; keep it as a crowd control - any damage should break it; if it's not meant to be broken by damage; then the player should still have partial control.

    just a slight correction, but in this case it removed ZERO science debuffs.

    Yeah sometimes Science Team seems to misfire; at first I thought it was because its rank was too low to remove a higher tier effect; or a player with maxed skills / gear; but since I tried ST3 with full skill tree; full gear; ... and still got misfires about 1/5th of the time; I guess something's not working properly.

    it probably has something to do with stacking the debuffs and it not knowing which one to remove.

    I've noticed more issues w/ the debuff removal and application while buffed since the "infected" patch.
    My guess, someone broke the code that allowed us to actually ST while VM'd.
    Copy/Paste coding = bad juju

    My guess, someone broke the code that allowed us to actually ST while VM'd.

    meh, even in the best cases its terribly easy to make a typo and completely break something in two. Funcom (age of conan) doe it a whole lot every time they patch (read: fix one thing, break three)

    I still think its funny when it perma bugs someone for the whole match and switches their team. I can't tell you how many times we've had a federation ship stuck on our team. We can't fire on him and vice versa but he can kill his team.

    It's nice to know it's not just me that has noticed this. Several times today I've clicked my Science Team to remove a debuff only to have nothing happen.

    Glad you've said this, for a while I was thinking the same, that maybe my skill was too low and started to wonder if this was right or not.

    Thanks for the responses everyone. I guess I'm inevitably SOL if it is a combination of poor coding and stacked odds. Good thing he's on my side most of the time.

    I have not tested this but if someone hits you with VM III can you remove it with Science team I or do you need Sci Team III? I thought that the I , II, III just increased the duration of the skill.
