Lag, rubberbanding since last patch

Anyone else having this issue? Today, for the first time since head-start, i've been getting really bad lag and rubberbanding to the point where STO is virtually unplayable... seems very unstable even the launcher tries to connect about 3 times and takes like 5 times the ammount of time it usually does to connect to the server. Just wondering if it's just me (i highly doubt it) or if cryptic 'did' it again?

No need to wonder, find out where the issue is occurring between the application and the Cryptic server.

Thanks for that, but i already tried pingtest.net and my ping between my location and california area is only 53ms.... so it's not my connection.

When i ping from cmd, i get values of 52-57ms, so that's not the issue. Thanks again cryptic.

There's really no need to go through all those steps when my connection doesnt' have issues and the game has ran just fine for the past few weeks without issues... i know where the problem lays: cryptic servers overloaded.

ping only checks icmp which is not filtered or delayed by traffic shapping. It does not check the tcp ports that the game uses.

    Servers are in Boston, MA

Ping is ICMP, the game uses TCP 7000-7500 ports.

When you are ready to look into your issue, let use know and we can assist. Maybe move this thread over to feedback until then.

Guess what, i just tried everything possible, even and desperatly shouting at WindowsXP and punishing the router/modem. But nothing had a positive effect on Star Trek Online Performance/Lag/Rubberbanding. Everything else, except STO since the Raidisode-patch runs fine.

For now, i just wait for the next patch, to get things done, 'cause i am sick and tired of blaming my system and searching for an issue on it. ;)

Amen brother, i'm not the only one with the issue, looks like a bunch of people since last patch have it, hence i won't waste any time trying to track down a problem that doesn't exist on my end.

EDIT: Also, this just happened to start around the time that 'tribble' went online. Something else to look into.

Ok apparently microsoft released an update for their built-in firewall... checked and the STO applicaiton was missing. Added application and checked my router.

Opened up ports TCP 7000-7500 as suggested and this made a world of difference. Not sure why my router was reset but if anyone is still having these issues, i would check if your ports are opened up on your firewalls (windows/router).

That last patch must have made some 'improvements' to target those ports more.... or something.

Connectivity is the key :) The same ports have been in use since closed beta.

What does change is the Start Trek Online.exe and Gameclient.exe files and some software firewalls and antivirus / antispyware applications need to be updated when they are. Most of the time there is a prompt to the client to allow, but it might be behind the full screen application, such as STO running.

As said before ... tried everything. Firewalls and stuff is aware of STO-Updates. I dont know what they changed on their network-code or server-settings with the patches since the Raidisode, but there must be something that was not before, maybe, just a guess but with that hard lags and extrem rubberbanding, it feels like the STO-Server gives my IP / connection a low priority.

Get a packet capture of the traffic when it happens. Let's look into it. Also you can pop into IRC #STO and STOQA and send me a PM. I'll come join you in the exact instance and see how it looks from my side.
