ATTENTION: nVidia 196.75 drivers EXPLODE

Hi,

I am sorry for the sensationalist title, but the issue is urgent for those of you using the 196.75 drivers.

They are bugged, leading to the fans not working correctly and thus overheating and possibly damaging of cards. Read more here:

    Thanks for the heads up as i downloaded that driver yesterday. Just did a roll back and installed the next driver.

    I run Rivatunner with custom fan profiles so haven't run into this problem. It's interesting because most fan controls are based in the Video card BIOS unless overridden by software. I wonder if there was a manual setting people had used in older drivers that is conflicting with this new version?:confused:

    Thanks for the heads up here and elsewhere on forums (I think that was you too - but thanks anyway if not).

    I did'nt download the offending drivers and they have now been removed from Nvidia site. I think Nvidia need to warn users that have said drivers though on the front page of thier site.
