You need a team on vent or something for this and its about time! I like it, nice and difficult with a PUG which is what i tried it in, cant wait to try it with my fleet.
Yeah. Quite a bit, actually. I enjoy it. Game be mad fun, usually. I played for about 3 hours last night and had fun, even though it was just dailies I was doing. I have a RA5, a Lt.Cmd 3, and a Lt. 7. This is the first MMO I think I've ever played where I've actually made it to level cap without feeling burnt out. There are a ton of things I want fixed/changed, but overall I'm happy with the framework they have here.
I'm honestly looking forward to the raid content and hope it's good.

NinetyNine is the only reason I read the forums anymore.
Also to OP: Did you win? How was the loot? Does Class-Makeup/Kit Diversity Matter? Sadly right now most of my RA Friends are Engineers using the Bunkers Kit... Which is nice because nothing ever gets in Melee range.
no, its hard, its standard space / ground / space stuff but its a lot harder, you need a tank to take the damage, you need a healer for shields and hull, and you need dps. The ground section i thought was very very annoying, for those who have not tried it i wont say why, but for those who have, they know why.
to answer a question though, we nearly did the ground combat section but someone quit, we couldnt advance without him.

I'm liking what I'm hearing. If one man leaving makes a difference, that's a good thing.

Is it more of the same as in. Kill some ships/beam down/kill some mobs/enter base/kill some more mobs/beam up/kill boss oh and maybe a few scans? But hey they bolt a story on and call it a Story Mission now that's imagination.
By far the hardest thing I've done in the game so far...totally insane ground combat. We lost one captain soon after ground combat started, then with the respawns of areas we already cleared, well...it was insanity and we lost another, so with 3 left we called it a day. I will try again though. We were a PuG.

Yeah, just like raids in other MMOs are kill trash mobs then kill a boss. Repeat!
Space combat i was really impressed with, but nothing new there, however i do have to say Cryptic need to learn the difference between making a mission challenging and just having a **** load of mobs. It would be a lot more fun if you there was a death penalty, because atm your running in killing stuff, respawning. Rinse and Repeat.
The ground comabt is TRIBBLE, infact its beyond TRIBBLE, its buggy the adds respawn 10mins after youve killed them and again theres just a ton of adds, nothing complecated or challenging just annoying. Loot seems to disappear, graphical bugs, movment bugs, abilites not regestring .....
So basically its up to Cryptics normal standards =(

Try actually downing a boss. Trash mobs are just that.
In the final room you have FOUR shield nodes that have to be shut down by THREE people pressing THREE buttons at roughly the same time.
I had to count down so that it worked.
1 guy disconnected permanently and his contribution was that he told us that this was the first time it happened.
Lost nerves and gave up in the end. Yeah, really. People cannot stop fighting respawning Borgs (no Nodes there, they just kept respawning) over pressing buttons, and this is the reason why the Borg will WIN in the end.
Going to do it tonight with some buddies, the difficulty is very low, but still too much for a PUG.
......Cryptic need to learn the difference between making a mission challenging and just having a **** load of mobs......=(
true true.....
and what happened to Cryptic actually writing/designing a story ??
I had 1345% more fun doing the Foxbat TV studio mission in CO......
..... at least THAT was entertaining and not just the same-ole-same-yawn that every mission is here (( OK the episodes are a little different....but not much ))
My team got all the way to the end with the shield generators and the three buttons, and eventually people died, and respawned outside of the forcefield which never goes down. I thought maybe everyone dying would reset it, but nope - we're just locked out lol.
Oh well, I have a feeling we wouldnt have gotten it done anyway. It requires ALOT of coordination, and PUG just doesn't have that.
Parts that are hard and require grouping are too hard and require groups. Check.
I'll reserve judgement until after I try the new content, but historically, the forum is seldom correct on anything beyond agreeing that complaints can be reworded in an infinite variety of ways.

I want difficulty, but I don't want a "No Win" Situation... especially when there is loot involved

It'll go down eventually, It took about 5 minutes, But ours went down.
Overall, I'm rather fond of the mission, But its hard to coordinate a PuG to do it, A healer is definitely needed here. \o/ First time healing yay!
Got into the first area, killed most of the first patrol ships and got wrecked trying to progress to the next stage. Took me 3 deaths to make 5 kills.
Result: Very good, thus noone can solo this thing very easily. Throw in DP and its perfect although depending ON that DP it might end up being TOO hard.
Tried it again with a fleet made Escort / Science combo:
Managed to get through the first stage with massive amounts of deaths and eventually beam down.
When we got down the ground it started ok then the second room just destroyed us repeatedly. There are just so many drones with those nodes that stop them dying that you cant even take them out before dying.
The new powers they have given them are extremely hard as well.
Apparantly Borg now have the ability to 'summon' reinforcement drones. It seems to be from tactical drones mostly and it even works in Exploration missions now. When your facing off against one they beam these things right next to you and naturally whack you for a heft bit of damage if you dont see them.
Its especially insane in this Taskforce mission due to the amount of tactical drones meaning lots of reinforcement drone spawns.
We have the standard: Assimilation attack coupled with 'Fuse Armor' which basically makes you unable to move. Once that happens your basically stuffed and these drones seem to have much stronger ranged weapons with good knockdowns so your going to be on your rear admirals... rear... quite a bit.
Will be seeing about doing this as a fleet action later but for the most part it seemed promising and sufficiently hard. If Cryptic can come out with a few of these - 2 - 5 at 1 - 2 hours each that means Admirals have plenty to keep them busy waiting for new content.
As it is, if this is the only one, its going to be around 2 hours of work + 30 mins for the daily. That might satisfy your casual gamers but the goal should to add enough to keep even those more active gamers busy.
I love how I can get in the forums and see 4 different threads about the new "radiosodes" and still get 4 different reviews.
This thread says its both difficult and needs a team. In another thread UNDERTOW says it sucks (with nothing else to add) and all the others are bouncing back and forth on how they feel. Some people just can't be made happy. I'll stick witht this thread, it seems to be filled with more good reporting.
So would it seem to indicate, then, that if three players must push the three buttons for the shields, can it be done with three players at a minimum? Or are we talking so difficult that it's a well-tuned 4-player group, or no less than 5 players?
i havent seen that in zone chat, i have seen people saying things like "tact officer in escort LFG" but no one is actually asking for specific setups.
i joined a group and went through it 15 mins after the server came back online, we got to the last room with the shield generators and someone had to leave so we coulnt progress without them, i dont see that as something that needs to be fixed, it just means it takes a full group, if it could be 3 or 4 manned then it would be too easy for 5.
the space combat is enjoyable as always and it only took a few deaths before we beamed to that station. the distribution nodes that keep the borg alive are hard to spot sometimes (cryptic did a good job of hiding them), but that just adds to the difficulty, its not impossible by any means.
if someone didnt have to leave i could have seen our group completeing this raid.
we had 1 cruiser 2 science and 2 escorts, seems to be the perfect setup for space combat.
i have to admit the sheer number of drones in ground combat can be overwhelming but it is doable if your with a good group willing to stick it out.
i would say that its too much for most pugs, you have to be lucky in pug groups to find the right people with the right attitude for it.
i should imagine that with a fleet that can work well together and a few practice runs this raid is easily defeatable.

Anyone else try it yet? I really want to know if it has promise, given that they're adding more of these things later.
If it's afk-easy like a lot of the game, I'm going to be disappointed.
Do you still play the game btw?
Just your tone would suggest you dont is all

Do you foresee zone chat becoming like this, due to the encounter?

Troubling, yet gives me hope
I've been given a vision by the Bajoran Prophets. I foresee the new WoWfleet rules and regulations being commonplace soon.
