I've been playing since the beginning of open beta with no problems whatsoever. However, after the February 12th patch, I've noticed a massive FPS drop both in space and in ground missions. I was getting anywhere from 40 to 60 FPS before; after the patch, I get periodic drops of 1-5 FPS lasting anywhere from 8-10 seconds in duration. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I've only been able to rectify it by turning on the half-graphics toggle and setting the FPS to 30. I've tried all of the other toggles with no luck at all. Here's my info:

Just downloaded the 196.75 drivers posted by Nvidia on 3-2-2010. Hopefully, these may have some impact but we'll just have to see. I'll post my results when I get home from work today. Thanks again for the help!
Sorry, I don't mean to bump this; just correcting what I posted before. I didn't mean a FPS drop by 1-5 FPS, what I meant was a FPS drop *TO* 1-5 FPS. Thank you for any help!

I'm not sure what's causing your framerate drops but you might want to revert back to .21 drivers as the .75 release seems to suffer from broken fan control:
To users reporting fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers from nvidia.com. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our website.
Update - still no real luck and on half-graphics setting now - again to get the FPS optimized. I am baffled as Mass Effect 2 works flawlessly on Max graphics settings. * shrugs shoulders*
Not kinda related but an interesting side-note; after rolling back the nvidia driver to. 21, I get an FPS drop in Mass Effect that I wasn't getting earlier. Weird..
