Problems connecting to server.

Hello all.

I recently started playing STO and things were running smoothly connection wise. However, now I seem to always be bombarded with the 'Sever not Responding' message at the top of the screen.

I ran the net test application linked to in another thread. Can't make heads or tails of the results so I am in need of a more tech savvy person. :)

Results of net test:

Local IP: xx.TRIBBLE.xx.xx
Ping: 157.9msec

Port: 80: 21kb/sec 1kb/sec 22kb/sec 500

Any ideas on what is wrong?

    the game uses ports 7000-7500
the 80 and 443 port checked are for reference as they mostly are not blocked or affected by isp's packet shaping.

because you have times outs on ports it idicated yu have something (firewall/antivirus. router , ISP) blocking the ports

normal values for nettest are column 1 and 3 300-500, column 2 arround 20.

the low rates you having indicate something is filtering or delaying the packets. the game uses.
    Likely the ISP.

    Thanks for the info.

I just ran the test again to see if the original values were just a fluke and low and behold most of the numbers are around what you said. Although none of the middle collumn are reaching 20kb/sec.

I will run the test again tomorrow morning to see if the numbers hold steady.

That sounds very much like an ISP traffic shaping issue.
