Hi everyone. I am an RA4 tactical officer and have steadily upgraded my ships throughout my career. But there is one item that I can't seem to quit - my level IV Efficient Impulse Engine. I know it is crazy for me to keep using it, but I love the boost that I get on weapons and shields - it has often been the difference between life and death for me in a fight - even though I progressively have taken a hit in speed.
I'm wondering if there are others out there like me who still use this engine, or would like to see the Efficient Impulse Engine in iterations other than just Level IV?

Your not the only one, trust me. I see no reason to get rid of it myself..on any of my characters. Personally i would like to see more like that
RA5 Cruiser captain, haven't found any kind of replacement for my beloved Efficient Engines. They have just as much turn rate as any other non-[Turn] engine (and even on a cruiser the [Turn] bonus isn't worth much), more if you consider that 5 Aux power will increase your turn rate a bit. 5 power to weapons and shields is awesome too, about a 10% increase in damage and a 25% increase in shield regen. The only place these engines suffer is full speed and full impulse. You don't really need speed in a cruiser, and if you really need a boost to full impulse you can just carry a [Full] engine and swap out.
We need more engines with interesting bonuses, like this one.
The bonus to Full Impulse is pointless (wheee! Lets fly in to the enemy without any power to systems REALLY FAST!). Replace most of them with better (and more creative) bonuses, like the ones from the efficient impluse engine.
i will make captain pretty soon, and yes, im also still using the EIE. i just love the +5 power to all systems. i thought there would be a more advanced versin of it later...i guess not eh?
I've stopped using the Efficient Impulse Engines for engines that are more my level, but unlike the other engines I've outleveled and dematerialized for credits, I keep this one in my bank just in case. Too bad there aren't more engines with interesting bonuses like this one.

Nope. Every single other engine is some combination of bonus to speed, bonus to turn rate, bonus to full impulse (whoopee), and something that says they are 25% efficient when disabled...which could mean a couple of things.
I absolutely hate everyone who uses efficient engines, because only Feds can get it right now. People complain that KDFs are "overpowered" in PVP? Yet Feds have better ships in terms of variety and usefulness, plus they can get better equipment for their ships.

I'm one of those that failed to get those engines and really wish I had... but I will live. I still have two other people to come up through that mission (thank you for naming it) and will get those engines on their ships. :cool:
the +5 power is great, and I hope to see higher ranked engines like those in the future but I stopped using them and upgraded to MK X combat with turning bonus-I captain a cruiser. Being able to get into the thick of things first or get into range for that crucial extend shields more then makes up for the stats in my book.

These engines would all have there own unique speed and turn rate attributes, but I didn't put those in as there would be multiple variables depending on what Mk ## they are.

Nice idea, and it would be great to have a variety of engines with extra bonuses. Efficient being the most coveted and rare, maybe a purple (very rare) MK X giving a +15 to all!

I don't think there are many Captains and Admirals who DON'T use this engine - it's just too good.
We should be able to a) Craft this engine at higher Levels or at least get it as a Rare Drop or something at a higher level - cause any other enginee besides this one I find is a waste

Hmm, the hit I personally take to energy levels from not using it isn't that 'big', but then again, that's on a liberated borg engineer with maxed out skill progression on efficiency anyway.
I am so mad at myself right now. I realized today that I did this mission yesterday on my Science toon and completely missed the engine. I use it on my main (RA5 Engi/Cruiser) and came here with the slim hope that I could find another one somewhere for my Sci. I'm considering re-rolling her just to get this engine. She's Lt.C 9.

It's a pity none of them are efficient.
Anywho - does anyone have a clue why the level IV Rare is the only version of EIE?
Perhaps add a Level VIII with +10?
I'm sure some dev is going to drop everything and get right on it

Hmm, the hit I personally take to energy levels from not using it isn't that 'big', but then again, that's on a liberated borg engineer with maxed out skill progression on efficiency anyway.
