New Launcher - will not patch

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
The newest change to the Cryptic Launcher broke something, to where I could login, but the patcher just sat there. I know they were having problems with

LAUNCHER ISSUES - Game Breaker - Game WILL NOT patch

If you find you are getting 'stuck' at patching after you log in, you will need to use/try this:

Evidently it is 'sort-of' a known issue, but well it only hit me today with the newest patcher/launcher.

So I'm putting it here as a 'bug' for today's patch.
I was able to login normally last night & the day before, so it's something that broke today. :P

Ticket #719525 <- from CO, but ya'll share a database.

Also this error is present in the STO launcher as well for me, but the test5 worked to resolve it.

#5 is an older version, you might want to try #8 from this thread.

I went ahead and gave #8 a try, and got unable to authenticate.

    But #5 works. *shrug*
I'm running XP SP3 with a direct connection to my router from my pc, so it's not a wireless issue :)

    AMD Athon II x3
    4 gig ram
    Radeon HD4650
Gigabyte motherboard with current drivers handling audio & lan
Plenty of hd space (with more coming)

Not sure if a dxdiag would make a difference as everything was working -yesterday- lol.
So it's looking like a software bit.

Do you have a program installed called Forceware network access manager?

Uninstall Nvidia Application Firewall - This is a known issue initializing OLE/COM before STO can run. It is installed with Nvidia chipset drivers, not graphics card drivers. Look for Forceware network access manager as an installed program and uninstall it.

Nope nothing by NVIDIA is on my pc, and I double checked to see if there was anything but the ATI stuff in the Task Manager, nor do I have any uninstall files for NVIDA/Forceware etc.

I'm not running a firewall, and I've got my router configured to not block the ports STO & CO use.

I get good/decent ping times to San Jose, CA and I get better than average scores for my ISP on SpeedTest.net

So I have a decent, if not great connection to the net. (Considering I live in El Paso TX....)
I'm not sure why 8 won't work, I'm thankful that 5 does though.

More system information (I chopped a ton of crud out of the dxdiag that's realy not relevent to the game.

You can either glom through it or skip past :)
