when I changed from an LC10 to a Com1 my turning radius bounus changed from +8.0 to +6.4 is this because a game update? or is it because of my rank increase? any ideas?
Engine bonuses change depending on ship class and tier,
if you go back to your previos ship it will go back to what it was.
It works the same with shields, lets say you put a shileds from a cruiser to science, its max cap will have changed aswell as its regen rate

I assume you at Com1 you moved into your new Tier 3 ship. T3 ships turn slower. The engine shows the turn modifier based on the ship you are flying.
well to my dismay I did change back to my previous ship and the stats on my engines still have the new changes applied still says +6.4 bounus twords my turning so the new stat is not because of my change in ships. any other ideas?
The new stat *is* because of the change in ships. There is currently a display error that causes all the items to display using the stats from the ship you purchased most recently, rather than the ship you are currently using. If you go buy a runabout, or a Tier 2 ship, the stats will change to reflect those ships. This is *just* a display error though, and the game apparently does use the correct stats from the ship you are actually commanding.
I can only assume that the shown stat is linked to your rank and "active" ship somehow. However, as it has been said already the actual turn rate and the applied bonus should be linked to your current ship-in-use.
From my experience, all the ships use their appropriate turn rates and bonuses as they are supposed to.
(otherwise, the Defiant Class Escort I tried out would have been a really slow turning bugger, since I normally fly a Star Cruiser)

This actually seems to be related to what people are terming the "Runabout" bug. All ship dependent values displayed on equipment seem to be based off of the last ship you purchased, rather than your currently active ship. The big area this is noticable is turn rate on impulse engines, and possibly shield cap values.
Easiest way to check the difference is to time a full 360 degree turn (i.e. fly in a small circle) for the ships, and confirm that your T2 ship does indeed turn faster than your T3 one.

You must be a cruiser captain. Just wait for captain tier and then the intertia in tier 5. Its the game mechanics.

Yes, it's a very annoying bug to pop up when you're trying to do testing and research on ship speeds and turn rates, as I am at the moment.

EDIT: Just as Shadowself says

Fear not, it is a display error on the item and you will get the correct values on the ship itself. My science ship does show the full shield amount.

Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
