Ok, these have occured recently, is there any info on them so far? How are they dropped/obtained, what omega level items are available? what marks? etc...
Can't seem to find anything on the wiki or in the guides.
Omega gear is what players call the items you get when you reach RA5 and can start doing the daily quest for badges. You get the items by visiting the USS Montgomery in the Omega Fleet in the Borg area. Hence the term Omega Gear.
Basically you earn badges (5 per day) and use them to buy ship gear and weapons, ground gear and weapons, kits, etc. It is all purple very rare items.
Note that the only ship weapons sold are polaron and anti-proton versions.
Kinda stupid that they're not just called epics. It caused a lot of confusion in my fleet. We thought it was a completely new coloured level above the epics already in the game, like the legendaries in WoW are 1 level above the epics there.

it's not confusing at all if you had been to borg space. if not then you really don't need to be thinking about stuff like that when you're still not even max level

"Epics" is an appropriate name in a fantasy MMO. "Omega gear" sounds much more science fiction, and hence is more appropriate for STO. Immersion is hard enough to achieve in MMOs these days, I'm glad the community has adopted an appropriate nickname for the gear.

Yup, I get a twinge every time I read about Quests and people "Healing" equipment and shields. I take my car in for repair, not healing!
I think they need to up the amount of Marks you get for a daily or even add like 3-4 more....2 days just to get one weapons sucks
Ship Weapons require 7 marks. Which is 2 days to start with, but you'll have 3 marks in the bank after a getting a Ship Weapon. Those extras Marks do add up. For Away Team gear, they are all less then 1 days makrs. You can easy outfit yourself and an awayteam in a couple of weeks. The Omega items can be quite a bit better then Mark X gear. And you can get just about any extra you like from lower tier gear (i.e. for shield:, extra capacity, extra (+800%) regen, PBAoE damage, damage the attacker, energy damage buff, etc). As other have noted, the weapons are limited to Anti-Proton as the damage type. But they all have the high change to crit and higher crit severity.

Not ot mention that the anti-proton ship weapons have a chance to bypass shields. According to the "right click" info anyway.

They are called Omega Gear because you get them from Battle Group Omega in the Gamma Orionis Sector Block. Since that is where all the endgame/RA stuff occurs, that is the Omega section. Purples elsewhere in the game are called epics or "very rare."
It also stands to reason that once the current "season" of raidisodes is done, there will be another tier of purple gear with some other suitable name, and the Omega classification will serve to distinguish the current endgame set from that "even more purple" one.

I hope they list them as "even more purple," or for brevity's sake, "purpler."
i posted a list of everything sold and the costs, but not detailed info on each item. will try to update my posts when i have the chance. or if anyone wants to contribute, just post a reply in the thread.

see sig for link to battle group omega.
Wow!
Thanks for putting those lists together. Never realized there was a difference between what you can get at DS9 and Sierra.

It's actually the Gamma Orionis sector block, but it's in the Battle Group Omega fleet of ships that you will find the vendor.

Actually it's RA3 and there's only Antiproton - no Polaron.
Hurray I'm not the only one. I hate it when people call missions Quests. Or the one guy who asked about appropiate "spells" for his ship.
But back on subject...Omega Level weapons you say?!?!?! And I thought there was nothing to look forward to at admiral level!!~
There isn't unless you want to spend almost all the admiral level skill points on just pumping Anti-Proton skill. Since Anti-Proton doesn't do any more damage than any other damage type and the only difference is the 2.5% chance proc your probably better off not expecting to equip the ship weapons. Just my opinion on it tho.
There are decent ship equipment upgrades but other than that your ship will be neglected. No consoles tho.
Kind of off topic, but I've heard the Shields there are 0% bleedthough, I don't see any info in the description, is the true?
the info about bleed through is missing from the tool-tip. unknown if it is in the right click info, but people have posted that they have experienced bleed through with these shields as well as the pvp ones..

Perhaps, but considering the lack of content at this level, what are you going to use them on anyway?
Not that I completely disagree with you, but I suppose that's a way to keep us coming back at the moment.
Personally, I'd like to see all of the other weapons types added, rather than be limited to the 2 there now.

Bah I'm stupid, I keep getting them confused. Gamma/Omega, who can keep track!? Will edit...
Same, "epics" annoys me to no end. They have a name, very rare, rare, uncommon, common.
It's semantics but annoying still.
