Question About Different Engine Types.

Ok, I understand what the difference between Combat/Regular/Hyper Impulse Engines is.

What I dont understand fully is, what is low power? I'm currently running my engines at 44/25 or something along those lines and I'm starting to wonder if I should skip the combat engines at this point and go with the regular impulse engines.

Any input would be great.

get the efficient engines from one story quest i believe that gives +5 to weapon, shield and aux and never change it... or at least that is what i am doing. and i am also pretty high up in the engines because of efficiency and the like and i think 50 is where it balances out to be good for the non specific efficient engines.

I'm currently looking into speed and turn rates and working on an article about them for The Engines Cannae' Take It!

I still have a lot of testing to do and am now waiting for the test server as it'll make several things easier to look into, but from what I've see so far:
    • Combat Impulse engines suffer a smaller loss of speed below 50 engine power, but gain less speed above 50 engine power
    • Hyper Impulse engines suffer a greater loss of speed below 50 engine power, but gain more speed above 50 engine power
    • Impulse engines are in the middle, gaining and losing a moderate amount of speed above and below 50 engine power
So, if you want to keep your speed as high as possible, the engine type you should use depends on the engine power settings you use:
    • If you tend to keep your engine power below 50, Combat Impulse engines will give you the highest speed
    • If you tend to keep your engine power above 50, Hyper Impulse engines will give you the highest speed
    • If you tend to vary your engine power above and below 50 according to the situation, normal Impulse engines will give you the highest average speed
Hope that helps - like I said, I'm still looking into all this.
