I am still having the problem: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=124779

Now I have a new problem. It takes me 3 or more times to log in, in order to play.

Try 1
Log in, choose my character....I get disconnected at retrieving list of maps

Try 2
Log in, choose character....Load in, get Server Not Responding (doesn't go away)

Try 3
ALT+TAB out, kill STO, Log In, Choose Character.....I CAN PLAY!

The above happens 10000000000000% of the itmes I try to log in (meaning it happens every single freaking time)

In case it is pertinent

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4000+
GPU: Radeon HD 5770 w/ 1GB memory
Router: WRT54GL firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp1 (07/28/08) TRIBBLE
Modem: Motorola 2210

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllpppppppppppppppppppp

EDIT
Read the posted link above to read about PROXY settings that I am using.
HINT: I *HAVE* to use US proxy to log in.

That is a wireless router correct? Any chance of plugging your computer directly instead of the wireless connection? Just as a test.

Definitley a connection problem on YOUR side. Even more so since you have to use a proxy.

Regarding those proxies, cryptian maintain multiple proxy servers, that are assigned randomly when you use them. Thats why you have to connect multiple times until you are assigned a "good one".

Explain to me why it works fine when using Windows Vista and not Windows 7?

Tell me what I need to change to get it to work. I haven't got a clue.

I am almost to the point of giving up completely, I don't want to, I haven't yet cause I don't want to let my fleet down. I am trying my best to get this fixed.

    Please help!

My suspicion is that the difference between Vista and Win 7 is in your router firmware. Your firmware release pre-dates the release of Win 7.

Didn't upgrade the firmware, but I bypassed the router.

The problem isn't the router as it's still happening without the router.

Can i ask if you have contacted your isp and spoke to a senior tech supervisor? (Ignore front desk support as they are totally useless)

Rememebr, I am using the same exact machine
I have both Windows 7 (64-bit) and Windows Vista (32-bit) installed

When I'm logged into Windows Vista, I have no problems
When I am logged into Windows 7, I have problems

Please don't take my post as being rude, I am just extremly frustrated.

It may be a side effect of the same "bug" that is killing network drivers. Stay tuned ....

Someone said they had to update their ethernet adapter drivers to the very latest one, there was an issue with the default windows 7 one that caused issues. Can try this until coderanger can figure things out.

    You can close this thread

This was releated to my other problem: http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=124779

IT was my firewall all along. Apparnetly when I installed it on Windows 7, it didn't correctly go into "learning mode" and so it didn't learn what STO needed. Even when giving STO full access to the internet both in- and out-bound, it stll got blocked. Even with it disabled, still blocked.

But problem is now solved. Thanks to the guys that helped both here and in the IRC channel.
