Help: Game Unplayable

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I have been having this problem now for about a week and I can not get any help anywhere. I have submitted tickets in both games with no replies. Here is my problem:

Ever since last patch a few days ago, In game I am getting Server not responding and than getting disconnected. It doesn't matter what I am doing. I could be in pvp, sitting in a space station, hanging in space, it doesn't matter. It disconnects me to login screen.

Now I have NEVER had disconnects until this latest patch. I am also having bad disconnects with Champions online as well(since last patch). I have tried all the tips and tricks people have been saying. Disable digital sound, disable dynamic lighting, update drivers, etc...

Nothing has worked. On klingon side I am disconnecting every 2-8 minutes. Does not matter what I am doing. On fed side I am disconnecting every 5-10 minutes or so. On champions online I disconnect every 2-3 minutes in the powerhouse but every 10-15 minutes or so out in the world. Let me repeat "I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN DISCONNECTED BEFORE this patch." It is something in the patch that made the game unplayable for me.

I have a bundle of logs, dxdiag info, logs from the cryptic folder in a winzip file on my desktop but this forum doesn't have an option to upload it to the forums.

This was in a clientservercomm log in the cryptic folder:

Post a dxdiag log, and what ISP/router/Firewall/Av software youre using. there is something blocking your connection to the network. I'm reluctant to say traffic shaping due to your ISP, mainly because those values just dont show it.

Could be a simple solution. After the patch your firewall believes that the STO executable isnt the same as the one you allowed and is asking you to reverify that it is allowed to pass through. The request is hidden behind the game screen and when you dont respond after a few minutes it shuts your connection down.

If this is what is happening then after starting STO/Champions alt-tab out of the game and answer yes to the firewall question.

I dont use a firewall. I have the windows one but I turn it off before I play. My ISP is Optimum online. I get these disconnects during the day not during prime times. For me I am in EST and I was playing at 11am and getting all these disconnects. I get them at 9am and at other various times. Never a set time.

What do you need from my Dxdiag, It is to big to fit on here. Any other info you need just let me know. I have upgraded all my drivers on my comp but as I said. It just started happening after last patch. Never had a problem before that.

Here is the post I have in champs online that has my dxdiag attached to it.

I hate laptops that have good specs and a terrible gpu :(

On a sidenote, from what you say, it could possibly be traffic shaping, as you say it isnt happening at a certain time. However, to be absolutely sure, you would need to raise a ticket with your ISP, completely ignore what the front desk reps tell you and demand to be put through to an actual tech supervisor.

Another way to check for traffic shaping is, when you encounter a lot of these disconencts in a short space of time, run a 1 gb bittorrent download, but disable any encryption methods, and ENABLE incoming legacy conenctions. This can flag up any throttling issues.

Also, when you encouner these errors in a short space of time, try running the following application, as it can show you any restrictions on your account. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UTNZQSCV

Also, fully uninstall any firewall and AV software you have, and directly connect your computer to the router, and disable any firewalls you have active on that router.

these are a few things you can try, but it's worth checking your connection out first, before we have you change any important settings on your machine

Did you know that you were running 2 sound systems?

    In any case this one;

I run the realtek sound. Thats the one I have set for default. And use for all gaming etc.. The other one is just there. I guess I will delete it. As for STO though I have it set in audio to use realtek hd sound not the digital one, I have digital sound turned off.

Edit: Just uninstalled the other one, but that wont make any difference.

WIKI entries on Optimum Online seem to indicate they cap usage frequently. Specially if you give any type of indication that the packets are bittorrent. (which sometime game packets are confused as)

I do not think that is the issue with my internet provider. It only happens with this game and CO and it only started happening after the last patch a few days ago. Plus, it is not just me, So many people are complaining now about disconnects and cryptic is ignoring every thread that pops up for it now adays.

If you look at my nettest it shows It is going good. I have run http://www.speedtest.net/index.php to many different places and it works just fine. I play other MMO's besides these two and the games run just fine. I patched CO and I patched STO and now my game disconnects (it never has before this patch)

Actually your inbound column 3 is showing zero. in the nettest.
if you had no problems column 1 and three would be very close in values.
