What the heck are those blue swirly paths on the sector maps?

    I believe they are trade route's. Thats where the Federation Transports travel along.

    I had an idea for them though.

    They should make you travel like double the speed, but you have to manually control and stay in them.
    Altitude and center wise. ;)

    BLUE paths are jus that - paths that Federation NPC ships take between systems. They act as vendors for coommodities needed for some missions.

    Anywhere other than Fed space, the paths serve a similar function - save you'll never see a trade ship on 'em - theink they're there for additional content other than in Klingon territory (haven't played Klingon so don't know if there's similar there).

    Where you see a path go into a whirlpool-like thing that's a warp point - it'll take you to a adjoining sector immediately. Can save some time if you're traveling due to better placement - on the System List they sow as <sector name> Warp. Again, think they're future content - as the only one I know of that works is in Romulan spacce, and takes you to Sirius.
