:confused:Can anyone tell me why those of us who play as Klingon characters can have access to playable Dreadnaughts, and why those of us who play as Federation characters, cannot? I'm very confused here!

I'm not a Klingon, but I'd have to say because it's not a Federation Ship, just like they do not have Federation ships. Not that confusing.

Think you are confused. He was asking why Feds don't get to play the EQUIVALENT of the Klingon dreadnaught.

I'm not confused, I answered the question asked. I am confused as where you see where the OP is asking about equivelents.

I'm not confused, I answered the question as asked.

I stand corrected. I was going with the intent of the quesiton and not the written word of it.

I agree, the Feds should have an equivelent if we don't.

For one, the fed dreadnaught is UGLY..
    There's no way around that.
Kling one actually looks like a kling ship.

And second, the klings have very little content and all we hear
is that the federation wants more and more.
No wonder the klingons went to war.
Let them have the dreadnaught, it's possibly one of the few things
that keep people playing that side (after all, it's certainly not the RICH content).

Actually what I'd like to see is the devs concentrating on the klingons now.
That will attract more people to that side.
And that means overall less wait in the PvP ques.

40 feds in the que and 3 klingons..
    Why so few?
Cause there ain't any more of them!

Stop complaining about wanting an ugly dreadnaught we don't need.
Ask for a better enemy so that we actually have someone to fight.

Best guess is when the level/XP restriction is increased, Fed's will have a Dreadnaught.

Simple reason: It's the only science ship the Klingons have. :D The Federation has 5 types and 15 classes.

I created a Klingon to play both sides and we don't have 1000's and 1000's on that side. Got right into the pvp queue though, definitely no wait there all the time. I like that side just as much as the Federation side. It will be fun to be top rank on the Klingon side and top rank on the Federation side at the same time. PvP hear I come.

Easy answer: Because Paramount didn't authorize it.

For Klingons to have a dreadnought is easy to justify, and even has precedent in DS9 (Worf's command ship in the Mirror Universe is a scaled-up Negh'Var on the order of 2KM long). Klingons being a warlike species (despite the original concept of "Mongols In Space":, having a dreadnought is in character.

the Federation, however, has NEVER had a "dreadnought" in canon, and whoever designed the Jupiter-class was Slipping Stuff Past The Radar, due tot he fact that Paramount would never have approved that monstrosity. There's only one ship in all of Trek canon even remotely like it, and that was a DS9 kitbash - See here for all the DS9 kitbashes, including the Jupiter-lookalike. it's listed as "3-nacelle Excelsior".

Again, Federation is not warlike - in theory, anyway - and has no need for "dreadnoghts" inthe traditional sense. Remember, when the threat of the Borg/Dominion loomed, what did the Federation do? Developed a SMALL, fast attack gunship - the Defiant class. NOT a big, slow, vulnerable super-battleship - which is what a dreadnought is.
