Ah, good to see. He (like other reviewers such as Ten Ton Hammer) pointed out that it seems to be designed for the casual player. Nothing wrong with that I say. I don't believe any game could satisfy everyone.
Thanks for the feedback guys. The interview was a blast, Craig and talked for about 20 minutes after the mics where off, the excitement he gave off as he spoke about the game was amazing.
I am not sure why so many MMO players do not get the need for a more casual play style. I have played and still play quite a few MMOs bit after a bit they become more work than play. You need to dedicate a lot of time to them. The episodic nature of STO allows me to jump in, play a bit and jump out when my family time calls with no real lose to my game play.
Many of us cannot commit 8 hours a day to a game. With work, kids, extended family, the radio show and other things in my life that pull my time away I sometimes can only plug in an hour for a day total for play time. This means that for many of the MMOs I play I only get a once a week time to play them. STO has allowed an every day play style.
Personally I am having a lot of fun with it. So much that dispite having the free reviewers account I bought a 1 Year subscription so when the review account is done I can keep playing. In other words I put my money where my review is

Because for so very many years, MMOs have in general been the "hardcore" gamer's domain. I used to be able to spend 8-12 hours every day in my MMO of choice, but I can't anymore, so I'm another that appreciates a more casual focused game. Good review sir.

Good review, glad to see it is one done after launch and not one before or during. Half the reviews I read so far are from people who seem to have only played the game in beta.

Same for me, these days I just don't want to rush it and like to enjoy the scenery more.
The fact that Craig was really passionate during the whole time we spoke gives me hope because you could hear the desire to make something great in his voice.
That just earned cryptic another month of subscription time from me.
See Crisler? People love your review. It just needed exposure over here where people who are playing will get to see it. I think reviews like yours will bring in new players and are superior to many of the other reviews we've been subjected to up till now. A great read and I think Cryptic should link to it in thier next posting of current reviews as it does more to sell this game then even the Tom's Hardware review did.
Seeing the positive responses to it here just supports that fact.
I find it's a time issue for most people between work & other obligations alot of people have something simple that doesn't require full attention a long amounts of free time is good.
It's nice to see something positive for a change. I too am enjoying the game, I got my tactical officer to RA5, and I'm now leveling an engineer, but I'm taking it a little slower this time around. Looking forward to see what the future holds for this game.

I found I missed alot of things on my first go, like memory alpha, I am now beyond my crafting level and while it isn't that hard to go back an craft stuff from the lower level t bring it up it's time consuming, I wish I had done it right from the start lol:rolleyes:

And STO seems to have hit the mark for the causal player. In a STOKED interview, Craig mentioned an very interesting stat about players. They took the top 35 player of play time. Only 5 (or less) of the top 35 players had reached Admiral level. The rest were spread out among the ranks.
