Someday maybe Cryptic will let put the option in the loader to display a internet link to the HUGE patch file waiting to be processed so we can use our own file managers to download them. As it is we have to let the patcher SLOWWWWWWWWLY download 4+ gig files when we first install it and probably every other day.

My request is, again, let the patcher have an option where we can just get a link to download it.

Ah yeah, I love living in the 20th century when a game company "protects" us from all of those bad details. It's great, when the company actually uses a modern-day solution.

So now I am waiiiiiiting for the update patch to slowwwwwly finish downloading. I hope the experience is worth it.

There is a torrent link to download the game on the downloads page. Is that modern enough?

The patches take me no more than 5min. I think that's a pretty reasonable amount of time.

    Ok here goes:

    1) Your actually living in the 21st century last time I checked - Although please do give some input on life in the 20th century as I am sure were all dying to know :D

    2) The patch was only about 130mb yesterday and for me it took only about 5 minutes on a 10 MB connection. What is your internet download speed? Could your ISP be capping your speed (usually if you have exceeded your bandwidth) and check what options the launcher has incase your set up to download too much (no idea how that would work but worth checking)

I'm using a smoke signal as an internet connection. Is that 21st century?

The patch for me when it ran after installation was 4000+ MB. And I bought the game on the 27th of february. So.........

And interestingly enough the torrent file is 7.78 GB... so your number 2 reply is valid... how exactly?

By virtue of him having bought the game before the 27th of February.

You really oughta pass that along before you make useless whining post, nutbag. Learn to communicate, I know your Asperger's is rough but you CAN get past it, just like your therapist tells you.

Apart from his chronological snafu, Max's complaint is valid. He did indicate that he was doing the initial patch, which is usually pretty obscene for any MMO. Having an separate download to upgrade the DVD install to current and even for latest patch could spare a lot of people grief when updating. Not everyone has a blindingly fast downlink at home. Some folks still have monthly limits. Some folks even have issues with Cryptic's updater. Being able to download the patch via a different method and/or from a different location could help more than Max I would think.

That some of you prefer to treat the newcomer like he just urinated on your favorite Teletubby slippers rather than be helpful or just keeping your commentary to yourself is just sad. But thanks for helping to feed my ignore list.

I get the impression that the OP meant that the lack of ability to patch the game ourselves is very 1995, i.e. 20th century.
