This is a peer technical support forum. If you wish to contact a GM concerning in-game issues, please put in a help ticket.

Have fun in whatever game you choose to play OP. The silence's expire after 24 hours. If you were flagged for a silence, then a lot of people must have thought you were smapping regardless of what you say.

City of Heroes is no longer a Cryptic game, and it is awesome, so you shouldn't quit it.

Also, regular /ignore, if it happens enough, also mutes people. I was muted for 24 hours after the ONE time I participated in the "tribble movie" game.

This happened to me 8 or 9 hours ago too, Dream-Weaver. I even sent a message directly to GM_LibraX about it 6 hours later referencing the trouble ticket I issued about it, and I was told that trouble tickets are answered in the order they're received. I'm fine with that policy, but I'm not okay with people continuously abusing the Report Spam filter to silence people who are not spammers.

But if you do something annoying enough, a lot of people regularly ignoring you will also get you muted, unfortunately.

So because the OP broke the rules and got reported for spam, he's going to throw a tantrum and cancel every account he has? Pretty immature really.

OP, i will say it again to you. It takes a good number of players to report you in a short amount of time to get reported for spam. Therefore, you did indeed "spam" zone chat in an area.

Freedom of Speech does not mean what you think it means. it also doesnt apply to private websites.

I like how you presume to know what i think it means even though you do not know me or anything about me :p
you wanna tell me what to have for breakfast too?

From the context you used it in, and with the discussion at hand, you implied a certain meaning.

    Things I've learned from this:

Don't talk in zone chat, unless it's about tribbles, Sulu, or how bad WoW sucks because everything else gets you silenced
Don't expect a customer service response about it, or an investigation before the 24h auto-silence is up

I've seen Dream-Weaver in chat, he's pretty pushy when it comes to his thoughts on the game and you're a "noob" if you say otherwise. Myself however, I stand neutral in most conversations, and try to state a defense for and against whatever mechanic the zone is discussing. I sent 5 lines of text in this instance, in a half hours time, and I got silenced. The last line of text; I was just agreeing with someone that implementing a death penalty, is indeed nothing more than a time sink in open discussion. I was typing another line, "How do you think the death penalty will be handled with the abandon ship option?" and then I get the message that I've been reported as a spammer. I must have deserved it right?

The system needs to be re-thought, because it IS being abused. Life-time members, and paying subscribers (out of the trial period) need an immutable flag if it was indeed the Ignore button that did it. What's to stop someone from either buying multiple copies of the game, or using multiple buddy keys and making it their life goal to right click and Ignore every player in the list? It'd be trivial with a key/mouse repeater and it'd probably impact a lot of customers, because Cryptic won't be there to correct the problem.

I'd like to point out people ARE abusing the report as spam system. So don't just assume he actually spammed.

Those that know me know I NEVER spam anything. Yesterday - I was chat banned and the only things I said was to use the galaxy map to find things.

This system needs an INSANE overhaul or those abusing it need to have themselves get chat banned. How enough people actually reported me for spam? Only way I can figure is an entire fleet had to do it as this is the first time since OB I've been chat banned for trying to make newbies learn how to play instead of just giving out answers.

Right now the only things I do on my RA5 is do my dailies, and chat with people. I find it fun so thats what I do. But if I have to be fearful of getting chat banned for telling people to use the galaxy map instead of asking for answers all the time, then I really don't even want to chat and kind of limits me :(

I usually talk in zone chat about a great many other things, usually answering any questions people have. The one time I joined a tribble movie game, I was muted.

I also received a response from the behavior ticket I filed well before the 24 hour period was up, which is how I learned that regular /ignore mutes people too.

The kicker is, two people actually liked my tribble movie, and responded positively. First time I've seen that with that game (Dr. Tribble, or how I learned to stop tribbling and love the tribble).

I agree with this, although I think a large part maybe be improper clicking. If some gold spammer sends five messages in a row, and you happen to get something in between them, there may be a certain amount of people that accidentally click your name.

The amount needed to do a chat ban couldn't' easily be done by just "accidental" clicking i bet.
