I have a similar issue, however my patch does start to download, and then will usually stop either at 4%, 6%, 9%, or 11%. Always one of those four. The launcher will sit there and do nothing, a screen will flash a few times for several minutes, and then finally I will get the "Report to support" window stating the launcher has crashed.

I have noticed that the launcher will start SEVERAL Console IME processes on my computer in the meantime, and none of them do anything.

I have never had a problem with this until now. I have been able to play flawlessly until this recent patch.

I have reinstalled the game, and although now I need MORE patches to download, I cant download any of them. It still locks somewhere in that % range.

It almost seems like they made a change on the server or the method of delivery for patches and now it will not download.

We need manual patch exe files if this is going to persist.

Please help Devs... I have been down for two days now and Im not looking forward to this lasting much longer.

** Also I have verified the game files twice and still the same issue.

Check your firewall and AV configs. Also try running a proxy through launcher options.(if you can get that far)

TCP 7255 is the port used for the update service, this is why you aren't updating.

I have opened port 7255 and im still not updating. Patch is still stopping below 11%

** I have also completely disabled both firewall and AV and still locks. Currently locking at 1.7%

Console IMEs still start and dont do anything, and still crashes launcher after a few minutes.

I never had any of thse issues, and did not need to disable my FW or AV or forward ports until this latests patch.

My firewall has not changed since yesterday when it was working though. I have ports 7000-7500 all portforwarded on my router and have done for a while

When I ran the launcher 8 thing that one of the devs posted in another thread I could get to the char selection screen but no further...

I can't get far enough on the regular launcher to enable proxy mode.

I have tried turning my software firewall off and that doesn't help either.

forward ports until this latests patch.

You can take the port forwarding out of the router, the connections are established from your client to the server and everything is TCP (no UDP).

The updater would not connect with the option to patch via proxy, both with and without port forwarding.

With proxy turned off and port forwarding turned off, still locking below 11%.

Also, it seems like the patch size is slightly smaller after a few tries. So I am getting the patch, but I will not continue to close and restart the download repeatedly for just a couple mbs of download.

Here is what my patch console looks like:

Okie doke, one more try. Here are test launcher builds 7 and 8. All that's changed from builds 5 and 6 is that there's no print spam or debug console to slow down the network operations. So build 7 is effectively identical to the live launcher, and build 8 is the same but with packet buffering enabled. As usual, please give these a try and post your results. Thanks everyone.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/114641/StarTrekOnlineTest8.zip (expected to work)

Try SuperMartin's #8 launcher and see if that gets you past the download time out.

Ah yes, you have a steam installation. Were you running the launcher from Steam? You might want to just move the STO directory out of Steam and create a new shortcut for the Star Trek Online.exe file.

Do make sure to look over my FAQ at http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=2104036#post2104036

What is your network adapter brand, model, and driver version (including date)? You can get this from the driver tab in the device manager.

What is your modem and/or router brand, model (including rev), and flash version? If you can't get into it for flash version that is OK.

This game worked perfectly until yesterday, why does any of this information matter? I have updated flash just now and its till not working.

I am still trying to move the dir out of steam to test. This game was working perfectly and I was enjoying it until yesterday. I would like to play again, but I will not make it a second job to get to play.

You are posting in a peer support forum and asking for help. In order to troubleshoot issues, we need details. We don't have physical access to your hardware to find this out nor access to your PC to try things.

Fair enough. I am just highly annoyed at the moment that a game that had 0% issues until yesterday, now no longer works at all.

I will see about getting the information.

Yes, we did issue a launcher update to fix a minor cosmetic issue earlier today.

That is good to know, and might be the cause of the issue. More information, I am currently manually downloading the game rather than from steam, and the luncher has so far reached 75% of the 10 gb download.

The only difference from this and previous launcher usage was this is being downloaded outside of the steam folder.

Hopefully either the launcher update, or the steam folder were the cause of the issue.

As well, thank you for the assistance thus far, and I do apologize for my outbursts. Hopefully my frustration is at least understandable, if not forgivable.

Reinstalling outside of steam worked. Been in the game and leveling happily. Seems that being buried in the steam DIR is a possible issue. However everything is working great now. Thanks again for all the help and feed back. Much appreciated!

Definitely. I want to be sure anyone else who runs into the same issue as what I had will not have the same trouble I had. I guess its one of the things that makes peer support so great.
