Well i've been very much looking forward to this game, and was hoping that my system would be powerful enough, given that i cant really upgrade it anymore.
P4 2.8ghz
2gb ram
500gb hard drive
Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 4650 1024MB DDR2 AGP Graphics Card
17" monitor running at 1280*1024
Windows XP Home
So how will that system rate for performance?
I cant upgrade the components anymore due to motherboard restrictions, and am not ready to buy a new base unit as of yet. I'm hoping the above will be good enough for at least decent performance.
That's very close to the setup I have except my P4 processor is 3.2 Ghz. If you can put more RAM in it then you should do okay, not spectacular, but the limited RAM coupled with a slower processor, I'm not sure if that would work very well at all, at least not in the areas where there's lots of ships. Is your computer one of those where you could install a 64bit OS and install more than 2GB of RAM?
Probably would be. The limiting factor is not so much the processor, it's the RAM. The best I can offer unless someone else has a setup with 2GB of RAM is try it with low resolution settings and see what happens, but that'd be a 40.00 investment for potentially nothing.
Wish I could be more help.

Tomorrow I could try removing all but 2GB out of my system and see what it does. If nobody else replies, send me a message tomorrow and remind me.
Youll be fine on low settings, but it might struggle a lot in some areas. If you can upgrade the cpu, you should be fine in almost all areas at mid settings.
No unfortunately, my system is a converted setup from a dell gx270 board, and so i am limited to 2gb ram.
I could upgrade the proc if i could find a p4 3.2 somewhere, put i imagine any improvement there would be small.
Unless you are using the guts from a small form factor, which is only 2GB. The other two can go 4GB.

Hey I'm running on a 3.19ghz P4 with 2GB Ram and a 512MB card. On low (not the lowest) settings the game runs ok. If a bit bumpy on the sound from time to time. However If I bump up the graphics the game begins to become jittery and a bit like a frame by frame account of the game. :P
