Renames in the C-Store? Where?

Okay....

My character's name is Bayushi Akiko(traditional Japanese naming method, was the model used for the Bajoran naming method). However, NPC's refer to her as Lieutenant Commander Akiko, which is inappropriate, given that 'Akiko' is her given name, not her surname.

I figure out why it does this, and go to the rename function to fix this. It tells me that I have to use the C-store to purchase a rename.

Okay, cool.

Thing is, the only options in the C-store are the two race unlocks(not counting the unlocked content).

So where are the rename options? Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

I'm not sure why it's telling you to go to the C-Store. You can rename your character at a Tailor (such as the one in Sol Earthdock or DS9). I believe that the first rename is free.

For future reference, character creation also allows you to set the proper order in which NPCs will refer to your character.

    !

You know that this is a common problem fpr bajoran ppl?

Ask Ro Laren. She always had this problem in staarfleet.

so its a good thing in RP view.

I wouldnt care. Humans are very ignorant in other cultures...

    ;)

    Wrong.

To the OP, I have been going on about this for a while now, still no idea.

If you've got no idea, then how can you say it's wrong?

Akiko: Please go to a Tailor. When you click "Customize Clothing", you will be taken to a screen with four options: Wear, Rename, Modify, Create.

The "Rename" section in the tailor refers to the name of the costumes. Not the character name.

And yes, the issue involves the 'shortened' name or 'nickname'.

And I cannot rename outside of using the C-Store. Which doesn't offer renames, at least as far as I can find.

    face it... you are...

i noticed early on that this problem would be a big one. bottom line is, you cannot rename your character and THERE IS NO rename option (or option to buy ANYTHING ELSE that was claimed to be in the C-Store, other than the klingon and ferengi chars) available!

    sux, dont it?

as ive said many times before, youd THINK cryptic would AT LEAST make sure that their clear stream of revenue would be up and running from day one, wouldntja? seeing as how you have to PAY CASH for cryptic points, and pay cryptic points for the items in the store... DUH!

They will be adding many more things to the C-Store, including renames, very soon. So yeah, Cryptic "gets it", it just takes time to get that stuff in considering there are much bigger fish to fry at the moment.

It is probably not considered game breaking, but I'm sure it's on the list of things to do. If it is intolerable, (as it would be for me) I would delete and restart. Your only other option is to wait until they have the rename function in the c- store. My guess is it will be the same time they release a "respec".

For what you are talking about, it's possible to do it in game using only Starfleet Merits: Open up your character tab, under your characters info find the 'Edit Biography' button. There, it should have a thing with your Nickname, First, Middle, and Last, and a drop down with the order in which you have them displayed. I believe you want to have it ordered as Last>First.

Changing the First, Middle, Last, and the order of display, is done using the Merits; it's only changing your display (short) name that requires the (non-existent) C-Store purchase. I believe it is 1500 merits to change your full name, but not sure what it costs to change the display order (that part might even be free!).

    Hope that helps!

PS before anyone jumps on me about this not being accurate, I HAVE done this myself!

are you sure that you set the nameing order option correctly. I believe this is in the options that are changeable at any time. I believe there is a button at the bottom of the char status screen to access this. It is not a rename as such but corrects for the typical first name, surname order allowing you to set it as surname, "first" name.

    hope this helps

I looked into this (again), and it's still a no-go. You can change the first/middle/last name, and the order they're in. However, you cannot change the short name. It states next to this: (Can only be changed via microtransaction from the C-store).

    *sigh*

If what you're trying to change is your character's "short name" -- the example is given as "Bones" in the character creator -- to your character's last name, then be aware that many other characters are being called the equivalent of "Commander Scotty" because of what appears to be wrong tokens used in some dialogue scripts that slipped through QA. I would hope that some one will eventually do what amounts to a search and replace for "<rank> <short_name>..." and corrects it with "<rank> <last_name>..." but I take it they currently have bigger fish to fry.

I agree it is one more of those off-putting things that breaks immersion we could well do without.

And the option isn't available yet in C-Store, meaning they probably haven't added this feature yet like other features such as (Fleet Leader) Uniform, Ship logo, and a few other features we are still waiting for. One time when I was working at a corporation someone made an interesting statement in a meeting "Things take time".

I understand this, but as to the problem you're having, the short name shouldn't have anything to do with it (other then being your display name to everyone else).

I had this same thing happen to me; I had set my short name to Fin, and had put in at generation that the full first name was Findral; well, it was coming through as *rank* Findral in status screens...I checked, and it had set that name as my LAST name! It cost me 1500 merits, but I changed the names around (so I actually had a last name, instead of none), and it started being *rank* Kell.

That's why I say, it should be that you just changed the order, and it will display the way you would like it to.

It's in there somewhere though, since I had a Bajoran BoFF for a time, and her name was showing the proper way on the officer tab (it was *Something* Jite, and Jite was showing on her status tab).
