The first entry in the 2/26 patch notes is...
Very Rare and Omega items may now be equipped on your Bridge Officers. Note that these items do not display on costumes yet. Costume designs for this gear will be addressed in a future update.

What are Omega items? Is there actually a level above Very Rare?

They can be purchased with Badge of Exploration at the USS Victory (Jupiter-Class Dreadnought) at Battle Group Omega.

Am I just missing it on the Exchange or these items not postable (or called something else there)?

Telaura already answered you. It's not in the exchange, it's at Battle Group Omega.

You must be RA3 to access that zone, and I'm fairly certain all items purchased there with Badges of Exploration are Bind On Pickup.

They're all Bind on Pickup. You'll actually have to do the work and do the dailies to get the badges in order to get the items. No easy way out this time. :)

But you don't have to spend days doing dallies before you can dip into the Omega pool. You can get 5 of the Exploration a day. Personal Weapons and Armor are only 4 badges. A ship weapon is 4 badges. However the expensive items are lower tiers are also expensive Omega items to. A SKIT costs 24 badges. That's 5 days of dallies. A Mk X Deflector or Engine, you don't wanna know... ;)

It should also be noted there is a second way to get these item's.

If you go to Starbase K9 there are two different dailies that can also get you 5 Badges Each (Not the same badges however.) But give you the exact same rewards.

Fight in 3 War zones = 5 Badges
    Fight in 3 BG's = 5 Badges

10 Badges Daily from PvP dailies.

Additionally it should be noted the following Badge Costs

4 - Ground Weapons, Armour and Shields
    24 - Character Kits
    7 - Ship Weapons
52 - Deflector Items, Engines and Shields

The Badge cost does not change between the badge types. However if you work it correctly you can get 1 Ship Weapon a Day from the PvP dailies and 1 Weapon every 2 days from the Omega Group Dailies.

For Example I was able to full outfit my Fleet Escort with 3 AP Dual Heavies, 2 AP Turrets, Tricobalt Mobile Device, and Tricobalt Mines in 5 Day's. So Basically now I am just saving for the higher cost items and kits.

In 5 Day's I should be able to get my Purple Sheilds from doing PvP dailies, and have all my BO's equiped with Purple weapons during the same period.

However a Warning, while they are purple and look nice, you do take a DPS hit by using them. At this time there really is no advantage to using AP weapons at the this time.

    Shard
    Fed - Rear Admiral 5

    Kas
    Klingon - Lt Commander 6

you should try the eps flow regulator rather than the +6 weapons. i find that it keeps the power at a much more consistent level and actually lets me use the additional weapons power. without the eps regulator, a few shots and the additional power is drained.

Feds can only do the pvp daily once as it rotates between the two types, so 5 max pr day.
